The moment you’ve all been waiting for...

Didn’t think I’d want to see it after one game but I am absolutely all over it.

The past is the past and you only have to listen to the players in pre season to know they are glad he’s back and that’ll do for me.

Automatic promotion here we come. 1 down 45 to go.

Critchley did it to try and repair relationships which I get. That second half performance did not deserve the famous first pump and felt a bit fake.
He's been waiting in pre season, holding off until it mattered and also because it would look a bit hollow just coming straight back fist pumping friendlies.

He's got us the win. He's called the 2nd half out more than most for not being good enough.

I think this is great to see, everyone was loving it bar a few bitter people muttering, but who were no doubt happy when Bowler came back after leaving.

He left, he learned, he loved it here, he's back loving it here and what a great sight it is after 3 points.

I get all that and it was always going to happen. Still felt a little fake… well perhaps it was just me.

Were you one of the muttering people 😏

He's obviously delighted, he knew he's have to prove himself, have some doubters etc, it didn't work for him at either place since he left.

We got a fairly comfortable win without really playing that well 2nd half.

I don't see how it's fake when the fans have been calling for it, if they didn't want it he wouldn't walk up to a silent crowd and start fist pumping.

P.s nearly 11k there today 😌

The snake returns. 😕
In the nicest possible way 😉

Poster above nails it - it's all about the feel good - next step is the 90 minute performance because as much as we all left happy with a win that second half performance felt a bit too like the opening day against Reading last season. We shouldn't have been clock watching but I found I was from about 60 minutes!

I thought the North might call it on and I’m glad he obliged.

No point dragging it out… He’s back … And so is the buzz… 👍

The buzz is definitely not back. Considering the decent crowd, it was one of the worst atmospheres I’ve heard at Bloomfield for a long time. Hopefully the reason was simply because it was Burton. The groans were also evident when CJ lost the ball etc. The fans will be quick to turn if results don’t go their way.

It was the North who asked for the fist pump, not like Critchley went out there to silence and did it anyway. Wonder if those who said they were going to turn their backs actually did so?

I doubt you’d notice a buzz if a swarm of bees simultaneously stung you on the backside!

So obviously the north called for it, but you could tell Critch was needing that moment. He's not stupid, he knows how people felt when he left, the way it happened which he said there was reason for but also he regretted.

He needed that moment and you can see in his face he was delighted.

Let's think of it another way too, with such backing from the north stand (and elsewhere) which lets face it, is the vocal element of our fans, you are on a strong footing. The new players (and existing) know now how much the fans are behind the manager and it gives him even more power.

Contrast that to the reception Appleton would get, like it or not players knew and could sense fans weren't with him. It didn't take much research to know that and would you as a player sign for a club where the manager isn't liked by fans? If he's sacked you can end up out of favour.

So to me it's massively beneficial for fans and manager to have a great connection and Critchley just gets it.

Oh I do and certainly didn’t notice that yesterday. It was flat as a pancake as they say.
It wasn't flat, it wasn't a memorable one though and yes at times it wasn’t the best but the game was easy, as said no Hoggy and he helps get people going. The stand in drummer is nowhere near as good.

Football fans are OTT in everything...the reaction when he left , the fist pump yesterday and probably after a couple of defeats down the line.

The atmosphere was definitely a bit flat for opening day. Away fans were very quiet which didn't help but it was as if we were stuck for songs without Jez and Patino.

I must say I appreciated the fact he called out the poor second half performance although why didn't he change it during the game?

I tried but I think I pulled a muscle in my back, still never mind. That’s something else I can blame him for.😁

The players weren't with Appleton, let alone the fans.

We beat a team expected to be relegated ,at home and everything is all ok. I will accept his fist pumps when he has got us back in the Championship ,where his leaving may have cost us our position. Then when he has got us back up I can forgive him.

Mad isn't it, he's back, got us a win, fans called for it and he obliged. It helps with fan connection and unity, but some can't let it go...in the world of football people move on, enjoy it whilst it's there.
All that is great and true but we beat Burton at home 2-0 and the second half was flat and low on quality. It just felt weird and forced looking on from the South.

If it helps, then so be it, who really gives a crap about a fist pump.

Celebrate each win 👍

Again they asked for it, they got it.

I thought it was great tbh.

It wasn't his leaving that cost us the Championship, it was the bafflingly shit appointments afterwards.
