The most "boring" football clubs

It's been done before but who are your most boring football clubs in the 92?

There doesn't need to be a reason. Maybe I'll take a count of what crops up and I'll do a poll of the top contenders to decide AVFTT's most boring club. I'm trying to avoid league positions etc. Just clubs you have an instinctive "yawn" at.

I'll kick off with:

West Brom
Sheffield United
Reading
Stoke City
Gillingham
Cheltenham
Stevenage
Colchester

I'll agree with Reading, Gillingham and Colchester and throw in Preston. If they weren't our local rivals would you be interested?

Dull town/City, uninteresting football kit, nothing ever happens there, and destined for championship mediocrity for years.

Bet residents who go on holiday get pissed off with people saying "where, never heard of it".
And in reply "it's near Blackpool".

Not sure about Sheffield United in that list; if no other reason than that cup match years ago, under siege for most of it and we hold out including a mad scramble in the last couple of minutes.

No idea which cup, what round or what year other than it was sometime in the early 90's which is nearly 30 years ago and that is quite a scary thought!

Reading
Bournemouth
Derby County
MK Dons
Crawley
Northampton
Stevenage
Luton
Forest Green

Manchester United. How boring every season knowing that you will finish in the top 6 and as fans never experience the agony of relegation or the ecstasy of winning a play off final. Surely that’s what being a football fan is all about.

Good list Voy.

Derby is the interesting one, years ago when at the baseball ground I'd say far from dull. But they are one of those clubs who have lost something with moving to a bland stadium.

Any team without a proper derby in my eyes is a boring football club. Imagine existing for over 100 years and you have never garnered a proper rivalry with another club. Absolutely passionless.

Fulham springs to mind.

Ghosts...I agree.. I would leave Derby out for a diff reason... As a thankyou for their fans filling their ground with Oyston out chants all game.... Much needed at the time.

Yeah I just had to get the East Midlands in there - you could probably just list all the clubs in the East Midlands, the world epicentre of dullness. And if you say 'Derby County' in an East Midlands accent it out-dulls the other East Midlands clubs.

I went to Nottingham Uni 1979-82 and Forest were the European champions at the time - you wouldn't have known though from the mood on the terraces! And me and my mate went to Meadow Lane occasionally and marvelled at the dullness of the 'County, County, County' chant. They made a football chant sound like an existential death wish.

Isn't it Chelsea? Nice, quirky ground too.
Yes, but I believe Chelsea consider Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham and even Manchester United above Fulham in their rivalries. That would certainly be depressing having a team as your main rival who consider 4 teams above you.

I'm probably being harsh saying they're boring as they had a Michael Jackson statue outside their ground.. that has to count for being somewhat interesting!

1988? Lost 3 1 at Bramall Lane in the second leg?

Is there anything worse than hating a local club with a passion but they don't reciprocate? Must be soul destroying.

Another vote for Reading. Nothing club with a vastly overrated sense of entitlement.
Tedious location too. I suppose it makes for a quick getaway onto the motorway. The only saving grace was one good pub - a sort of 17th Century building in the pedestrianised shopping area. Several small rooms and passageways.

You mean like our rendition of 'Oyston Out'. I always thought our lot sounded as if we were already defeated when that was sung.

As soon as I read this the first team that came to my mind was Reading. No one worse to get in the cup. Even the stadium is boring. Been once and never again.

Has anyone mentioned Reading 😂
Certainly not Sheffield United, we built up a bit of rivalry with them late 70s early 80s based on challenging in div 3/4.
Always preferred them over Weds.

I see Rochdale have had a couple of mentions but they do have a cracking little fish n chip shop opposite the away stand... Top nosh.

I thought Crawley and Stevenage were worthy nominations for boring football clubs when we played them. Non entity towns with non entity football clubs.....

Tonight it was Morecambe v Barrow who must be close as the crow flies, and not exactly fierce rivals

The Bay derby?
