The Next Prime Minister?

Thread has been dead since January why bother reviving it..... errrrr oops OK Penny Mordaunt cos she is sexy.😜

The country could do with another devil woman who would take the unions on and beat the working class with a big stick and soon become the most despised person in the country.

Step forward Liz Truss. 🥶

People will keep voting for the best candidate as they always have. What is needed is the standard of candidates to be raised. One of the papers this morning is leading on whether Angela Rayner's lack of understanding of the English language and grammar should prevent her being a candidate for leadership. How low have the standards become when this even needs to be discussed? Surely there are good, honest leaders in this country who can speak English correctly.
You've misunderstood the two basic qualifications to be a candidate. You have to be (a) a member of the Conservative Party and (b) a Tory Member of Parliament in the House of Commons. Angela Rayner, despite being desperate to stand, is precluded on these grounds.

So let’s pin this down, who do you want to win, and who do you think will win out of this lot.
Rishi
Liz
Nadhim
Sajid
Suella
Grant
Kemi
Tom
Jeremy
Priti
Penny

Rishi - brought down Johnson
Liz - shallow
Nadhim - shady
Sajid - see Rishi
Suella - brilliant and terrifying
Grant - lacks substance
Kemi - who?
Tom - short on ideas
Jeremy - why did you fail to prepare the country for the Covid pandemic Mr Hunt?
Priti - not running AFAIK
Penny - see Suella

Toss up between Penny and Suella, IMO, but what do I know?

Interesting that when Liz and Penny throw their hats in the ring, there will be 5 white contenders out of 10. Shows the multi national demographics of the Conservative party and the country, especially the capital of course

But I thought the Tories and their supporters were all Nazis ?

Just another normal day in the Tory party. 👏

…and you don’t think Labour has the same on their MPs.

It’s common practice to collate information and use it to persuade an MP when they don’t want to vote the party way.

It’s not new and it goes on right across the house.

I think some on here have forgotten how many Labour MPs are under investigation for a litany of problems, oh and don’t forget the one who still sits in parliament after threatening to throw acid in someone’s face. HYPOCRISY at its finest again.

I would doubt that Labour would provide info on their own MPs to the Tories.

But crack on.

Keep up son. That discussion was six months ago and on a different subject.

So, the media have switched their direction of attack from Boris to Rishi because he is the candidate the left fear most. What a surprise.
It's blue on blue internecine warfare, the media are just reporting on it. In fact, one attack came from 10 Downing Street - hardly a media conspiracy.

Dossiers of misdemeanors are being passed to Labour MPs, this could go on and on.

Sunak won't win IMO, not because of a media conspiracy but because it appears that he has been involved in industrial scale tax avoidance. 100 million is one estimate and with his green card and wife's non Dom status it doesn't really fit in with Rishi 'the patriot' that he would have us believe.

I’m thinking now, best hope this country has for the future is at the next GE Labour has to enter a grace and favour agreement with the Libs and the Greens and they push through PR

Then we can have a more centralist coalition going forward with all spectrums reflected and a balanced government

The last decade has been a joke with poor leadership and even more woeful opposition

Completely agree with this and it seems that the Conservatives are petrified of this happening. The problem is that Labour still think that they can win a majority, how many more defeats will it take?
Like many I am fed up with 30% having 100% of the power.

She was thrown out of the Labour Party and is officially an independent.

You say that dossiers of tory misdemeanours are being passed to Labour MPs by the media, which has clearly been the case since the present government was elected in 2019. You also say that the media are just reporting, which is clearly not the case. The media's job is to report, not to undermine selected targets in pursuit of their political aspirations.

Dossiers are being passed to Labour MPs by Conservative MPs to undermine other candidates in the race. This is what has been reported. Internecine political warfare.

If the media had information and it could be shown to be reliable it would be reported.

No conspiracy here

Do you ever read the Daily Mail?. The job of the journalists there is to convince the public that the world view of the owners and editor is the truth.
All the papers do it to some extent.
Not many of you on here will accept it but the closest thing you will get in the UK to impartial reporting is the BBC. Although when we have things like the Covid situation or a major Royal event they will go with the Establishment message.

Agree. Arguments against PR include the fact that minority parties end up with a disproportionate amount of say and agreeing a consensus becomes more difficult. But frankly, the degree of ineptitude and shadiness (spesh of late) displayed over the last 10 years means a single party can't be trusted anymore. But on basis of turkeys and Xmas can't see Labour progressing that. Hope I'm wrong.

Personally I like Sajid Javid, he’s got bags of experience across various government departments and comes across as a decent guy. He was the first one to resign as well and all the others followed suit.

I was leaning towards Jeremy Hunt, and then I saw that he's chosen that nutter Esther McVey as his running mate.

That's him out then.

Ugly Petal is a bit quiet at the moment.

Is she, or her huge arse going to be a candidate.

That's really be scraping the bottom. ugh.

Could be a late entry, coming up on the rails. Her policies will be to suspend all benefits and redistribute to those on incomes above £100k. In this way she’ll claim she’s forcing these scroungers into work.
