The Nobber game really will be shit or bust!

Beat the Nobbers and we can still knock on Cardiff and Rotherham (and maybe Reading's door) but you get the feeling that a defeat at Deepdale will haunt us for years.

True … but don’t forget they at least cannot do the double over us this year ..if that is some comfort !!

Don’t think a defeat will haunt us at all it will just be another set back like many others over this season potentially leading us to the trap door.
Yep, this.
It won't be Preston sending us down at all.

It's the w 8 d 11 L 19 before this game.

Agree it's getting to "shit or bust" stage though, irrespective of it being a derby.

And we've already taken 3 points off them this season, it won't be anything to do with Preston if we go down

Scant comfort indeed, but at least the worst we can do is share the spoils over 4 Championship games.
The problem for me is that whilst "bragging" rights over the season matter, staying in this division would have been so much more important.
We might not play them again in my lifetime

Does nark me that this is their 16th year in the Championship and they've never looked in danger of going down!
I’d rather be relegated & promoted over those 16 years, it’s all about entertainment and it can’t be very entertaining for them just plodding around in the same division year after year, no highs, no lows just aimless pointless existence isn’t what I want for us, that’s not me being biased it’s just a fact, imagine if the only thing we had to look forward to was wearing a bowler hat once a year

You keep telling your self that 🤣🤔🤣

Yeah, fair enough. I am absolutely gutted that North End are an established Championship club.

God, I wish that we were playing Leyton Orient and Morecambe next season!

🤡

Tbf I'd rather stay in the championship but if we did go down and manage another promotion via Wembley or just auto, with fans in attendance, it would benefit the club and fanbase massively.

Having a playoff success is pretty memorable, we've had a lot, tye best team in the playoffs ever.

But of course no guarantees of it happening and could just end up there for a few years or more.

I can agree with that aspect but the financial implications of dropping down a division are massive, especially if you get stuck in the league for a while.

I think Portsmouth are bigger than both of us and they’ve been stuck in that league for ages.

I don’t think anybody should think relegation isn’t too bad because you can get a trip to Wembley in May.

Definitely want to avoid relegation at all costs, no guarantee we’d get back anytime soon. A draw would be ok at Preston, but is we lose, we’re still not down, we’ve got 4 home games, win those and we’re in with a chance. I’m sure Simon and the board have made it clear to MM that we need wins

Yeah, I'm just saying there is a way it can work out. However there's no guarantee it would and is too risky.

Better to just stay up.

I genuinely hate Derby day anyway but the thought of losing to them and the comments that would follow don't even bear thinking about.

I do think we'll get back up within 2 seasons if we go down , a lot of the big clubs who've got stuck down there have been basket cases in terms of their owners/finances/strategies. As long as SS shows the same "wherewithal" as he did last time I think our "decent for league one" budget plus home atmosphere once we get cooking will get us up within 2 years.

Like others have said it's cost north end 15mil ish per season to permanently lodge themselves into mid table, even more for Bristol C, Cardiff etc. SS doesn't have that kind of money. Ultimately it always comes down to money unless you can magic up the right alchemy like Luton, and we've been more like a bunch of pissed up witches gawping at a cauldron this year.

Hopefully you haven't left it to late to escape the drop , show the same passion as you did against the CLARETS and you might just pull it off , but first you have to beat pne who have nothing to play for only pride. Good luck 🤞

I’ve supported Blackpool since 1987, so I’ve seen Blackpool:
Win playoffs at “old” wembley
Win playoffs at Cardiff
Win 2 LDV Cups at Cardiff (arguably the best days out, no pressure just fun)
Win L1 playoffs at new Wembley
Win Champ playoff at new Wembley - and read the PNE online thread of the game which is nearly as good!. (Also, Promotion celebration on the beach, what a day that was!)
Beat Liverpool home and away in the Premier League
Beat Spurs in the Premier League
Play at every Premier League ground and put on performances to be proud of up and down the country
Win at new wembley twice more since

I can’t help but feel that if I supported PNE my highlights might be… somewhat limited!

If we go down, and I reckon we will, I can happily console myself by looking forward to our next great memory. It’s great not supporting a drab club, supporting Blackpool is never dull 😁

Draw all our away game and win all our home games and there are 16 points taking us to 51.
Not shit or bust for me but anything but a win just adds to the pressure in subsequent games.
