The unbearable “I told you so” brigade

I read stuff like that and just think “what the actual fuck”.

So basically what we’re saying here is that as long as the manager does exactly what they would do then he gets their support win or lose, but if he actually does his own thing, then winning is something you have to “put up with”

This morning we’ve got the “Blackpool are boring” because sometimes the opposition have possession and we’re not peppering their goal with shots for the entire 90 minutes…Now we’ve got the putting up with winning crew.

The world has gone mad !!
You can have concerns about a manager and actually still try to get behind them you know. It’s actually how most of the world works.

We’d be doing worse but for Rhodes. We’d be doing better but for the tinkering. IMO we are average and as Critchley has been billed as the returning Messiah he should be held to that standard ie) top three in League One with a player like Rhodes at our disposal.
Messiah,As he? Doesn’t look like it reading this board,ie top 3, it’s early days save your judgement for may we’re we will be in or around that top 3 👍

FIFTEEN coaches have departed their head coach roles already this season. not sure if that includes the PL. does anyone really think that joining the sack race at this quarter season juncture would change anything. WE are exactly where i would have expected us to be. LEAGUE one is a bang poor league. we all know that . SEVEN teams included us are going nip and tuck for the play off / top two. Spoke to my son this afternoon. AND he is really critical . DAD he said Peterbrough are a good side and we shouldnt worry about it. we will be at the NORTHAMPTON game because he has business / child care. I love doing lads and dads when we can. thats how important BFC is. Bowie once said I dont know where i.m going from here but i promise it wont be boring. UTMP.

I didn't want Critchley back, but in hindsight he was the right choice and if he just stopperdtinkering so much and worrying about the opposition as much as he does then I think we will do better. I actually think he will get us into the play offs, which after last season would be a good result, it is so early in the season we could still go on a great run and chase the top 2. We will finish anywhere between second and sixth I think, but we are still allowed to discuss a game and point out where we, as supporters, think he went wrong. It makes F all difference at the end of the day as he will do things his way and so he should, he will live and die by his decisions.

There are always some over reactions on here, I am guilty of it as are you I have no doubt in the past, there will always be a few who are just like all the time and disappear when we have had a good result, but he majority on here can argue their point very well and accept other supporters views even if they disagree with it.

If we can get Norburn back on Tuesday and Virtue, Gabriel and Joseph match fit by the end of November then all we really need to do in January is seal a deal for Rhodes and sign a decent creative midfielder in the Cambran.Adam style we will have a great second half of the season.
well said sir 👏👏

“I said at the start of the season” “I told you we should never have brought him back” “We were never going to do well with this manager in charge”

What do these people want more? Their football team to do well or for their opinions to be proven correct? I genuinely think it’s a toss up.

What is for certain is that they are absolutely unbearable on this site and impossible to argue with. They formed their opinions before a ball was kicked this season and can’t wait to kick the boot in when the opportunity arises.

We have lost 2 games out of the last 8. We have improved significantly since the start of the season. We are 7th in the table with a game in hand on some of the teams above. We have players set to return from injury. We have seen a vast improvement in individual performances under this manager.

Time for some to grow up, put their big boy pants on and realise that the football club isn’t always going to appoint the manager you want. We’re not going to play well every week. The manager isn’t always going to choose the starting lineup you would have chose.

There seems to be so many who think the grass is greener. If we sacked Critchley (which some were calling for before August was over) who would we get? Would they really do a better job with this group of players?

We’ve got a decent squad and one that is capable of reaching the play offs. But that’s as far as I’d go. Out of the last 3 managers, which one has the likes of CJ, Dale, Lavery, Thompson, Dougall, Casey, Husband played their best football under?

People are always entitled to their opinions. Critchley isn’t perfect. I agree with the idea that we play too safe. But it’s when people aren’t open to changing those opinions, and instead look for any and every reason to maintain them, where it really becomes miserable. We could win 10 out of the next 11 and this board would be its loudest after the defeat.
You've written a well considered piece on a fana message board. That's red meat to all on here who'll rip you apart and condemn you as if you've shot their mothers.

There is a large element of our supporters who are there for the team and team only. This Critchley worship squad that can’t accept that some of us have concerns but know and accept that whatever happens Critchley will be allowed to carry on as he wishes whatever anyone says, is frankly weird.

What is so wrong with accepting he is here for the long term and having the opinion he isn’t doing as well as he should or could be and supprting the team? Absolutely nothing. But some demand we all go to bed in Critchley pajamas dreaming of wet towels and Oakley-Booth coming good.

Bit of hyperbole there

i think it is work in progress and things don't always work out how you want them, like we all have our favourite players and systems we think should be played. Players will have off days where things don't go right teams do a lot of research into how the opposition play and will try to nullify the best elements but also to attack weakness, hence why he changes the team regularly.

How do you manage to get from …

Maybe not calling for the managers head after 4 League Games (I won’t embarrass you all by linking your collective postings), to all being expected to wear Critchley Pyjamas ?

The truth of the matter is that we have a not insignificant number of fans who have the knives already sharpened and are waiting in the wings for the earliest opportunity to plunge them into Critchley’s back.

It’s beyond pathetic really and it certainly doesn’t help our football club or (as you put it) the Team to achieve their objectives.

We experienced the same bullshit when Appleton was in charge and no doubt it will be the same for the next manager…..

Nail on head! 👍

Oh come on, you absolutely love coming on here to give a jolly good telling off to those who have had (or still have) concerns about the way a good team is being managed currently. It’s comical how seriously you take mild to moderate scepticism on a message board that only Sadler seems to care about more fool him. It’s hardly eggs being pelted as he comes out of the tunnel and “Die Critchley” chants.

I’m not embarrassed by any of my posts.

I didn’t want him back TBH but he’s here & I’ll support the team which in a round about way means him too. I wish he’d just pick our best 11 though. It would be ridiculous to sack him.

The OP posts bollocks like this OP every week. Best ignored.

He was a happy clapper last season and made the same kind of OPs with Appleton and Big Mick whilst we nosedived to relegation.

For some weird reason he assumes everyone should never be critical of any manager or performance by insulting them and tries (in vain) to stifle opinion.
This is literally a lie and a really weird one.

Not sure if I’ve touched a nerve with you in the past but it’s quite odd that you’ve developed an (inaccurate) agenda against me when I don’t even recognise your username.

I said McCarthy was the worst managerial appointment made by this club for a long, long time. If you really want to look through my posts they’re all there.

As for Appleton, I never warmed to him but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and actually give him time to work with an undercooked squad. If that makes me a “happy clapper” then so be it. That certainly doesn’t mean I didn’t criticise him (again the posts will all still be there).

Finally, if you actually read my posts on THIS thread you’ll see I clearly say Critchley isn’t perfect and I agree with some of the criticisms made against him.

So, in short, what you’ve posted here is absolute bollocks.

I would love people to explain the term (playing it safe) in their own football terminology

For me, it's when we have the ball, that we allow ourselves to be too concerned with what our shape would be if we lost possession at that exact moment.

That leads to too many players sitting behind the ball, meaning fewer forward passing options. However, it's entirely the right approach. The quicker the ball goes forward, the quicker it comes back.

And for all the "I told you so" brigade you've got the "trust the process" lot.

Who's right, who's wrong?
It's a message board and not everyone will have the same opinions.

I didn't want Critchley back and I haven't seen anything this season to change my thinking.
However if he can manage to turn it round then praise will be lavished upon him
Turn what around ? We’re doing pretty well aren’t we?

We are become something of a self-entitled fanbase.

Christ, when I think of the shoite owners / Managers / Coaches we have had to suffer over the past four decades, we should all take a reality check.
No we aren't

We just care deeply and are more engaged than the majority of clubs due to what we've been through as a fanbase

I'm actually sick of hearing about how we are so self entitled

Its complete bollocks......

To be honest, all of this "More engaged than the majority of other Clubs" thing is all becoming a bit sad and pathetic really..

What it basically means is a few people have got themselves a bit too attached to the drama and are struggling to let go.

SPS is actually spot on and we have almost certainly become far too self entitled and embarrassingly so really.

I completely and utterly disagree
