The use of the flag has, to a certain extent, hijacked its meaning. This continuous and boring use of the word “woke” has nothing to do with it.
For the record, a few years ago, my curiosity got the better of me, when 2 Union Jacks appeared on flagpoles not too far from me. I decided to check them out using the leaked BNP list (prior to fake news). Both addresses were on the list. I’m not in any way suggesting all flag fliers are of the far right persuasion. However, its become tainted, due to its selective use.

I think the Celtic nations retired it years ago, outside of Rangers fans when do you ever see a Scotsman fly the Union Jack?
 
Might be a good idea to move this thread onto the politics thread, that way we can stop mex trying to stir the pot over here. It’s clearly going to run and get spikey.

Firstly, I’m not upset, I’m simply making an observation.
If not agreeing with everything you say makes me woke, them I’m woke. Using your view, the world must be full of woke people.

That’s exactly the point I’am meaning in my earlier comments.
Someone mentions the Union Jack and you go straight away on the attack mentioning the BNP. 🙄

So 2 racist mongs fly the union flag in the shithole that is Preston and it’s tainted. I would suggest that says more about Nobberland than it does the flag.

If you cared to look, I have already agreed that “misrepresented” was a better choice of word than “tainted”. If you’re suggesting only 2 people flying flags, is representative of racism in the whole of the UK, I suggest you give your head a wobble!

Your suggesting that if the far right use it, then it becomes tainted. Why do they get to decide the meaning of the flag?
 
The year is 2021 and people still get excited about a piece of cloth with a pattern on it. Morons, whether it be the union jack, stars and stripes, tricolour whatever. Its bollocks unless its the red flag with a sickle
