Theo Corbeanu

I could see Critch getting quite a bit out of him, he seemed to lack some nous last time. He looked like a Canadian trying to play football oh wait….

Critchley & league one football I think could produce a useful Corbeanu.

Very inconsistent and frustrating but I think there’s a player in there with the right coaching.

Didn’t track back at all so struggled in Apples deep defending approach

Critch prefers the two dogs of war (double pivot) 4-2-3-1 approach which allows the wingers to be wingers not glorified full backs. Worked with Bowler and Theo would fit that mould if allowed to stay forward
I couldn't disagree with you more

We didn't defend deep under Appleton at all

Like a good debate Phil.

Appleton said he didn’t deploy a high press but preferred the low block. This was in his tactics video and early interview too
High press under Critch was always risky - ball over the top left us exposed except for Marvs pace saving us.

The low block relies on having everyone drop back into shape. Would have suited Keogh for sure. So either we defended deep in the low block or he abandoned it for a pressing game? I feel it was still a low block as he needed his wide men as auxiliary full backs (Jerry and Shayne did that a lot)

I know what he said but to be honest I thought we defended a lot deeper under Critchley than Appleton

He was good off the bench, poor from the start. What Appleton should’ve done is bring him on with 30 left rather than 15. He’d have won us a few important points as he was unplayable at times

Yes he caused Championship defences problems, he is a, year older and in L1 would be a decent addition.
Not a Wow signing though

How about giving our very own Donavan Daniels a go. Very similar style to Theo. If we don't start being a bit braver with our Development Squad we may as well disband it and send Dobbie to manage Spurs as a punishment
I am expecting Apter to feature in 20 games next season, if it does not happen you have to question does, Critch really buy in to development football.

I’d rather go all out to secure Bowler for a season than take Corbo…same level of lack of team play but far better

Sadly very little chance of Critchley backing our young players. Hope I'm wrong.

I too hope you're wrong. There needs to be opportunities this season or the first team will be perceived as a closed shop by the Development Squad. Not really familiar with the players though. Anyone got thoughts on which could feature this year? Rob Apter's name seems to be mentioned a lot.

That's my worry too but we really need to see what Apter and Holmes have to offer. Strikers in particular are very hard to come by.
It will be interesting what happens with the Development Squad.
With Critch Mk1 we didn't have a Development Squad and he didn't want a Reserve team. He told me to my face he didn't want his players playing on the crap pitches that Reserve football might mean playing on. He preferred "bounce" games.
And there's the Dobbie factor now with an increasingly more influential Ciaran Donnelly.
