This guy wanting to buy the nobbers.....

IIRC the word out of Derby was he was a time waster/tyre kicker, with no real funds of his own and no backing, and whatever he has in his VC is unlikely to be available to fund this.

You would have thought that if he is such a Chelsea die-hard he would have joined one of the bids trying to buy it! If I was a PKE fan I would be concerned to put it mildly. However, I am sure the EFL will be putting him through their exhaustive Fit & Proper Owner testing.
Bit of a difference in price to be fair 😂

I think the difference between our thoughts and those of PNE fans only serves to highlight what a difference in ownership our two clubs has experienced over the last 30 years. As a fanbase I think we're naturally very wary of any potential new owner, whereas PNE seemingly want anyone just for a change. If they'd had the Oystons in charge for decades, they wouldn't be so eager to open their arms to this guy imo.

An absolute disaster waiting to happen, all mouth and no trousers. They deserve each other

I think it's a bit sad - and a bit telling - the Hemmings family want to get rid less than six months after the old man's death. They seem desperate to get it off the books.

I wouldn't want this bloke anywhere near us as an owner. A 34-year old going shopping for football clubs running a start-up still using VC funding sounds like a bloke trying to live the life before he's actually earned it. It feels like a massive gamble to me.

What's the appeal of a loss making club that needs to trim down to be sustainable? Just the potential of the Premier league?

Unless youre a fan like SS and even T hemmings was, or really loaded so the losses don't matter then what's the benefit?

So hang on. Is Uncle Trevor’s lad not going to be bankrolling a promotion bid now he’s in charge, like most of them kept telling us?

We were assured he was a huge fan.

Yet despite the history with his father and the club, at the first chance he seemingly wants rid of the dead weight and drain on finances.

Quite telling.

Most Preston fans I know and have spoken to on this are just fed up of the monotony and want something (anything?) to change. As is regularly pointed out on here, they’ve done the square root of fuck all for nearly 70 years and under Hemmings were seemingly just plodding along with no ambition to do anything other than limp along in the Championship until they inevitably went back down to League One.

Whatever happens under this new bloke, at least it’ll be different I guess!
That’s exactly the sentiment shared by most Nobbers I know. Given our length of time outside of the top flight, our support has held up pretty well but a boost in belief is needed.
I recall at 2001 play off final talking to Bolton fans and we couldn’t believe that they had fewer than 20000 there that day in Cardiff. Over 32000 Nobbers.
They said they’d been up there before and would only come straight back down, plus the play-off heartache of earlier seasons put them off.
We’ve had far more knock backs than then over 61 years and we’re still turning out with similar support to nearby clubs who’ve enjoyed more success.
I’m proud of that and yes, many of us would like change, even if it brings risks.

For what it’s worth, I doubt this will go through as we were close to this before in a much less publicised deal around 5 or 6 years ago. Fell through at last minute.

You'd be much more wary Evatt of this guy if you'd experienced the owners we have for the past thirty years. If I were a PNE fan, I'd genuinely prefer to keep the Hemmings family - they've put a lot of money in and would continue to no doubt, and they're local so the connection to the club is obvious. I'm not saying you shouldn't want change, just maybe not with this person.
I think our recent ownership change has prompted some unrest at Deepdale, but you do have to remember that we were so lucky to get Simon Sadler. Most clubs don't get someone like him, and I don't think you should be opening your arms to someone new so easily.

Fair comment.
We’ve suffered in different ways.
Some fans are just desperate for a spark.

I was going to do an April Fools joke that he had pulled out and the sale had fallen through.....Maybe it wasn't wishful thinking....🤣😂😅

They are going to be totally depressed by the 5th April......It was the only thing they were looking forward to......
And it looks like the guy has been pulling their plonkers once he watched them play......

Looks like PNEISOnline is going into meltdown and they are blaming Hemmings & Ridsdale for the failure
Well we all said he was a tyre kicker and taking the pi55......but they wouldn't believe us.....

This could be a the start of a really bad week for Triumph and his fellow manic depressives

Losing to (a desperately wanted new manager) Wayne Rooney tomorrow.....and realising they really are stuck with Lowe
No new owner....So another decade of decline, while Craig H tries to off load them to anyone with a spare £100
50% of their team out of contract in 8 weeks....and nobody is going to replace them
Their big flag for next week has a spelling mistake......Happy Biffday Tim....yur a hundered

And losing to the Pool.....

There is a good side.........Refunds should be available from 9,00am Wednesday at the box office

Well what will be will be. More important things escalating around the world.

My guess is he's a chancer looking to find something on the cheap, and if he can, then he'll try to find someone to finance it.
Well he’s picked the wrong country.
Nothing is cheap over here. I’d say this is a lucky escape for PNE, although they might not see it that way at the moment.

The price of a football club is basically derived by what someone is prepared to pay for it. The only offers that have officially been made for Derby and the Nobbers have come from this guy which is the most someone has been prepared to pay for them. Unless someone else comes in with better offers then maybe his valuations are pretty much on the ball ?

I read their thread and a couple of things stand out.

There's an air of disappointment that is not happening; but it's certainly not a melt down. I think they just fancied a change and it's not not happening - although there a few wishful thinking it's still on - time will tell

There's a lot against Risdale and his approach.

Not so many against the Hemmings family; but they don't think they are going anywhere up or down just treading water - which is just a bit dull.

I'd never heard of the PNE Collective or whatever it's called, but it appears to have a little of the BSA 'being on the inside' about it. It doesn't appear to be a group to challenge the ownership and management - be interesting to see how that relationship with fans and the club unfolds if they end up in a relegation scrap at some stage (not saying they will).

A very fair post and a reasonable summary . See you on Tuesday.
