This so called tram stop derby

Anyone else noticed it doesn't have the same amount of fever from both sets of fans? I can only presume its because we cant go?

For me there hasn't been enough games to give it any credence. I'm sure the derby and rivalry will grow over the next few years.
Totally agree...When my dad started taking me to the games in the early 90s I think Burnley were the arch rivals then, then PNE...Obviously it's the other way round now tho

I really don't expect to be in the same division as them for the rivalry to grow. Once Pilley gets bored of pouring money down the drain they will disappear back to non league obscurity and the couple of dozen fans will make the tram ride back to Bloomers as they did pre scum. Normal service will be resumed.

Its ALWAYS been the other way round.
I'm just going off when I was growing up..PNE were in Division 3 at the time and Bpool & Burnley were both going for promotion from Division 4, plus they had Jimmy Mullen as manager which added to the rivalry

Just another game to me, albeit one that would normally be easier to get to than any other away fixture.

Fleetwood being compared to our proper rivals, PNE and Burnley, sums up the state of the game right now, and how far we have fallen compared to them.
Despite years of nonsense under the O's, the asset stripping and boycotts, Pilley's millions have just about put them in the same ball park as us. Give it another couple of seasons and they'll be as much of a factor to us as Accy, Rochdale or Salford.

All 200 of their teenage fans must be gutted they can't go to the game today; the rest of the crowd being made up of free tickets given away to local schools & their parents probably won't care.

This "it's not a derby" is hilarious.
7 different threads on here currently running on Fleetwood. For a team with no fans who don't pose a threat because the owner might walk away one day then they seem to have a lot of Blackpool fans talking about them.

I talk about the opposition every week. Doesn't make it a derby.

I don't think anyone is comparing to the big derbys. Apart from the CODS.

But we cant deny the fact that two teams in the same division 10 miles apart is a derby. FACT.

It's a match against a club that is geographically close to Blackpool. And their ground is less than a mile from my house too 😀

If we lose to Preston it ruins my week. If we lose today I’ll be pissed off for an hour, like the Doncaster game, then get over it.

That’s why I don’t see it as a derby game

There's a thread on who Sunderland's new manager will be and we're not even playing them today.

I reckon it would take years for most people to come around to the Fleetwood game becoming a proper derby, or something significant such as them beating us in a play-off final. I see it as a nice little derby, I definitely consider it more than just another fixture but ultimately winning or losing these games doesn't have a significant impact on me (anymore than another game would).

It is a bigger game for the younger lot who have joined us post-boycott, it will continue to gain traction for them the more we play 'em and avoid Preston. Older West Ham fans now depressingly concede that their younger fans see Tottenham as their main rival because they never play Millwall anymore. I doubt we'd ever avoid Preston long enough for that to happen but it is a worrying example of how things can go!

Technically its the Manchester Square versus Lindel Road derby, if we're talking about tram stops.
