This tournament is winable

Looking at the matches and results so far, this tournament is winable.

We just need a bit of belief and a desire to attack rather than not lose, and we could do this.
Not winnable with captain safe, yes man in charge.

I still think France will do it. Italy have looked very good though

What Southgate is doing is very clever. It's a homage to the Blackpool season.

Croatia was pre season. Optimism and promise.
Scotland was up till October. Bit rubbish.

We're going to slowly release the handbrake and by the time we get to the final, we'll be irresistible.

DCL as Gary Madine. (Overlooked)
Kane will come roaring into form as Jerry Yates
Maguire will come back in and be Dan Ballard.
Sancho will give the extra spark later in the tournament (Embleton)
Sterling is obviously Sullay.
Pickford will be player of the season. (Maxwell)

It's obvious.

There are a few teams that could win it, us included. But, you need a competent, tactically astute manager who is capable of having a plan A, but also capable of changing that plan with a plan B, and preferably a plan C.

Personally I don't think Southgate has a plan A, other than don't lose. So I'd be amazed if we progress past the R16.

Even over recent history it's been the same old, Sven & Brazil and more recently Southgate & Croatia (WC 18).

No Kenny Dougall.

There are consistently better national teams in the 24 nations in the Euros than in a World Cup. One team will click together and win it. So far, it’s the Italians; they usually start slowly, but not this time. Ominously, they have order, energy and sharpness. England will need much luck even if we play well.

And to add Roy Hodgson in the 2016 Euros, not sure he had any plans never mind B or C. Harry Kane taking corners WTF was that about?

Italy will burn out. Playing too well too early. Germany have a dicey defense. Ronaldo is old, will pull a groin or something. Spain are shit. France will have a labour strike etc.

It's ours for the taking!

I think Wales have a more realistic chance of winning it than England (with the preferred formation of Mr Beige).

I don't see how you draw that conclusion. I'd like you to be right, but I just think we are a fair way off the standard of the best.

After losing to both Rochdale and Shrewsbury, we had blown It!

After beaten 4-1 at home to Ipswich we were awful and a class below the top sides.
Average League 1 team.

Well all you negative experts we are now a Championship club!

England have just as much chance as Italy, France and Germany.

1 shot on Target against Scotland and 2 on Target against Croatia. Awful.
I'd rather watch Blackpool

Blackpool would be a better effort than England, utterly inept as ever

I never lost faith in Blackpool all season finishing most of my posts with #BELIEVE
It's a different kettle of fish with England, you have a manager that sets his team up not to lose rather than go out to achieve the win.
I'm I being negative concerning England or maybe a realist?

Creativity still flowing then td.

France just drew with Hungary. Imagine if we had of done that. Far far worse than drawing with Scotland.
Yes, said as much in the match thread on Saturday. In fact, looking more closely at the so called favourites, they've had the worst of a draw with Hungary and beat Germany through dint of an own goal. Not all that.

Is it buggery. Hungary were at home in front of 60k supporters for starters. We were at Wembley.

And France actually win stuff. No constant underachievement for them.

They were shit though btw. Proper shit against a very poor side. But that's okay.

England are shit against a nations biggest game in their history and it's not okay.

Exactly. Why are France deemed wonderful when they've done sod all in this tournament? Over rated.

England aren't allowed an off game but looks like most other sides are.

Wales beat Turkey, lose to Italy and scrape a draw with Switzerland and they are deemed unbelievable.

England beat World Cup finalists and have an off day against a nations biggest game since 1996.

Just double standards, it's almost like England fans don't want England to do well. And that's part of a reason why we won't progress.

Yes this tournament is winnable, for several other countries other than us.

I don't think it's double standards. Wales are being judged according to their size and prospects. England is a major footballing nation with thousands of players, huge clubs, huge amounts of cash, thousands of registered footballers etc, and are being compared, trightly, with similar nations like Germany and France and Italy. All three of those have looked better than us so far IMO, although France must be concerned, a bit. Thy have beaten Germany, though. Imagine if we had beaten Germany. We all want England to do well. We are frustrated by the level of timidity on show.

I'm not suggesting that England will win the tournament, but I've seen enough of this sort of thing in my life now to know it's not how you start, it's how you finish. Italy and Germany were masters at looking piss poor and reaching finals, whilst Spain spent most of the 2012 tournament having their own passing competition before absolutely destroying Italy in the final.

Italy have played well so far, but they've hardly played anyone good.

England just look to me like they dont particularly want to be at the Euros..

I think a lot has to do with Kane. He looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Italy have had an easy ride thus far

I totally agree. Tournaments can change radically. But can England change radically? I doubt it, personally. It's not what we do. I'm just going off my own eyes, watching players and how they link up with other players, body language etc, we look unready, hesitant and poorly coached and the players look doubtful and diffident. I suspect the only way it could change would be if we were to play someone like Germany and the players just decide that this is it, we have to supercharge ourselves and go out in a completely different mindset, they get pumped up and shake off the timidity and play in a much more proactive manner. It could happen, but I still think we will get out thunk by a better coach and set of players.
