This was the season to go straight back up

Like others have said it’s not the strongest this season but next season!!!! You’ll have Wrexham and Stockport who are loaded, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday probably, 2 of Derby Pompey Barnsley Bolton and teams like Charlton once they have a decent manager will be up there. This was the season to bounce back with the strength of our squad but we’ve buggered it up overthinking every aspect of each away game rather than just trying to win the bloody game. However despite it all I still believe we’re better of with Critchley as the stronger the league his style of management will be more effective as you won’t have teams running away with it and history shows his teams improve over time. So onwards and upwards folks and you just never know miracles do happen.

It's disappointing as he was brought in as the best person to get us back up and so far is failing on that task.

But we have improved and undone a lot of last seasons issues, but not there yet completely.

It will indeed be harder next season, but as you say we often do alright against more football based sides that will want to play their own game.

It's not over yet but all we can do is keep going and see.

Totally agree

Said it at the start of the season that it’s a weak league and also talked about the six threats who are all up there (didn’t expect Stevenage). Disappointing!

Doesn't that suit us in the event we don't go up? We play better against the good teams. It's the teams with 10 behind the ball at home we struggle with.

If only people listened to me in July. They could have saved themselves a lot of bother:

Anyone with half a brain will know this team isn’t good enough. Maybe play off challenge at best.

This 3-5-2 will be a disaster. Just you wait and see.

Blimey even Vitamin D doesn't cheer you up, I'd have had money on it being a winter deficiency.
He was right though, Critchley was a poor appointment and we're stuck with the boring ** for at least another 18 months. If Carlsberg did Football Club Owners they'd leave Sadler to Watneys Red Barrel, which is a step up from the previous who were snake oil.

Yes. 3-5-2 or whatever it is these days was and still is an embarrassment to this great football club. Opponents X Blackpool NIL
Its an embarrassment?

You said the players aren't good enough for League One and it's one of the worst Blackpool teams for a long time, just overly negative nonsense and predicting that we wouldn't win the league is hardly Mother Shipton stuff is it?

I reckon iron levels now, do you eat enough spinach?

Why the constant negativity?

What on earth makes you want to come on here every day and go on and on about how shit everything to do with BFC is?

I feel sorry for you as there must be something wrong in your life that is driving this obsessive behaviour.

I specifically said 3-5-2 would be a disaster and it has been. I know you are respecting my knowledge deep down.

My next prediction is that things will improve when either Crithley leaves or he changes the formation. Unfortunately I can't tell you when this will be.

Yeah there is. Blackpool FC is a huge part of my life and seeing Critchley play this transitional bollocks of a formation really grinds me. It's like getting a Sunday Roast with no knife and fork at the table.

It's pretty unhealthy that you allow something so out of your control to grind you like this.

You've mentioned that you have young kids before. If I was you I'd focus on them and try to dissociate from BFC for a bit.

No I'd rather contribute the negative atmosphere at Bloomfield and attempt to force change. Not been too successful as we have been ok at home but it's only a matter of time.

So, adopting that slightly skewed way of thinking, we can only hope, in the event we (inevitably) miss out on the play-offs this season, that we restrict ourselves, for the 2024/5 campaign, to channelling all our efforts into competing with the stronger outfits making up the numbers in Div One, whilst the so-called lesser teams, under a Football League ruling, are restricted to playing games with just the keeper, as well as a couple of fellow defenders, allowed into the home penalty area, for company.

Suggestions for any further handicaps considered worthy of inclusion in this rather hair-brained scheme would be most gratefully received. Ciao.

It’s not a weak league, some weak teams in it like all leagues but it’s not weak. I actually think the level of football and standard of players playing in this league now is better than ever.

History doesn't show his teams improve over time. Ask them at Villa or at QPR when he was the gaffer. This is the best season to get promoted though and he's still time to learn from his mistakes. I don't believe he'd get another managerial position if he's sacked here so if he wants a career he has to make the most of this opportunity.

I’ve never seen Pool get automatically promoted (old enough but don’t remember the early 80’s one). Genuinely thought this would be the year, or at least go very close. And believe it would have been if the manager hadn’t over thought it and ditched the stupid formation that has held us back.
Still pro Critch though, but if this isn’t the year he needs to have a long hard look in the mirror and hit the ground running next season

So the team in the Championship or League 1 didn’t improve as the season went on?

It’s as frustrating as hell are inconsistency away from home but some people are just chatting utter nonsense at the minute to try and make a point.

We’re halfway through the season where have we improved? Who has improved? I’d say Joseph and Gabriel because they are getting match fit, who else? Are we defending better? Creating more chances? Is our away form/tactics better? We all want to see improvement and some are frustrated the choices our manager is making.

You said history shows his teams don’t improve? That’s bollocks as proven in his two previous seasons.

Albie Morgan? You forgot him, easily done as he’s probably been our best player over the last couple of months.

Everybody is frustrated by the away form it’s not good enough, but don’t talk nonsense to try and support it.

The issue all season, even in home games we’ve struggled is when teams defend deep and sit-in we look a bit clueless and end up pumping high balls in. It’s a combination of formation, over-thinking on the opposition and the players during the game flapping a bit and resorting to going more direct as no space. This should have been identified by now & we should be able to change from 3 at the back before games and during if required to. It’s as simple as that & that’s the point.

Not your made up ones.

Spot on Wiz. No disrespect but teams like e.g. Stevenage, Burton, Port Vale, Cambridge, Northampton are the cloggers of L1 and are football spoilers and you get these in any level of football, but it’s how you set yourselves up against them and when required change the formation of the team and that’s where Critch has failed miserably this season especially away from home. Players like CJ and KD are passengers against these big ugly clogging teams as they out muscle us and that has to be matched if we are to get results.

The same comment is made every season, unless we are top of the league of course, which hasn't happened very often.

It's either a defence mechanism so people feel a bit better about themself by belittling those doing better, or it's an attempt at psychological warfare against their own team. Either way, it's deluded especially if said by folk who never played themselves at such a high level.
