He’s one of them players that are so easy to forget but easily sits in the top 5 best in our squad

If he wants a new contract. For some reason he’s not had the best treatment here.

I genuinely believe because he isn’t plastered in social media he’s down in the pecking order? It most definitely isn’t because of his footballing ability

Problems:-
he’s not big for a CB
he’s not fast off the mark or flat out
his laid back manner casts doubts on what he’s thinking/doing during the match.
Good points:-
he reads the game well, anticipating where the ball or an attacker is going to go
his long passes are excellent
he’s more of a shepherd than dive in tackler
I’ve not met him but I suspect he’s the quiet, get on with the job/training type.
He’s going up in my estimation.

He’s improved massively since we brought him back from Oxford and playing at a different level. Reminds me very much of Dennis Irwin who was a quiet unassuming player on and off the pitch but never let you down and always gave 100%. He would be my first choice CD every time and would be surprised if he’s left out of the team anytime soon barring an injury.

If he was the size of Marv he’d be at a top end championship/lower premier league side, massively underrated IMO.
I put this on a post about 18 months ago saying that his body language gives you the wrong impression of him.I rate him as a defender though.

If they can offer Virtue a deal when he was crocked and then loan him out cos he's not good enough, it's a 1000% certainty that JT gets a new deal. Do it now so there's no sniffing from others.
