Thoughts after that…?

I must say it’s odd how negative we were in that game. They are without their main 2 outlets in Dack and Diaz, who are the only real main quality up top they have. We should have gone for this. We are clearly a more top heavy team with good attacking options for this league. Why we set up to defend in a game like this, given the context - amazes me. Should have been more brave…

Tough to say but I’d be stunned if we don’t go down from what I’ve watched. We are really really poor.

Square pegs, round holes? Or are we just not good enough?

We have no genuine quality anywhere on the pitch. The players are confused and badly drilled.

The most obvious example of this is that they try to close down high up the pitch and only one player does it .... so they merely boot the ball across and round him.

Shambles. Shite. Doomed,. Deserve nothing more.

The problem is we are just not very good.

And we have no experience in midfield and our strikers are not very good.....in fact they are particularly poor.
Can’t disagree with that. But Im not having that with Poveda, Bowler and Rogers - we don’t have more going forward. It’s the manor in which we are setting up for me, it’s square pegs round holes yet again. We aren’t great, but surely not this poor.

Patino shouldn’t be playing mens football.

Connolly really needs to be put into the midfield until we get some players back from injury.

CJ has the physical attributes of an Olympian but the heart of a pea.

Lavery needs a spell on loan in the lower divisions.

Agree with them all, other than Lavery, he will be playing in league one next season with us 🤷🏻‍♂️

See you in league 1.

MM and TC are taking us down.......

They are finishing the job Appleton started to be fair .
They're all simply finishing off the shit show that Mansford started in the summer by failing to complete essential signings. He is supposed to be CEO isn't he?

I said in the match thread that he should take most of the responsibility.

No planning at all. Recruit an unpopular manager, fail to give him the players he needs, sack him, then sign some of the players players he needed in the first place

** bizarre

We are. The table doesnt lie.

We could loan Lavery to ourselves next season then.
Hopefully he might improve.

Wrong appointment and it's taking us down. There's a way to lose and this isn't it. Can we say we've played well or deserved to get anything from any of the games under Mick? Even the weekend we have to say we rode our luck with 1 shot on target and narrowly escaping with a 1-0 win.

We have absolutely no midfield and that is down to the Board and who employs the manager? Umm, oh yes, the board, although I don't blame either manager they haven't a chance as the club has been run on a shoestring re players.

Dont keep blaming the manager ,the team are just not good enough whoever plays.
Completely agree, the squad isn't good enough and the injuries are killing us. But you have to ask, is he really getting the most out of the attacking players at his disposal? I just really think if you're going to go down, you might as well go down fighting rather than with a whimper, and surely that lays with the manager.

Got to say I agree with that. We surely have to be braver. To not have a shot on target is woeful.

Appleton had already done that to be fair to MM and TC
Get your excuses in early, there is no way Appleton would be doing as bad as McCarthy with this squad. To be honest I’m not sure there is a Manager anywhere that would be delivering so little in the first 6 Championship games — crap football, crap results and zero entertainment so far.

That is no excuse, our budget was lower last season than it is this season. Which Blackpool players have McCarthy and TC improved? Are we better organised under McCarthy & TC? Are we over-reliant on keeping clean sheets?
What I was getting at is the recruitment policy, which fell way short. The loans have been very good but the injuries have also crippled us.

I disagree.

We've been piss poor all season.
We've had a catalogue of injuries and made the wrong choice of manager in Appleton.

We give away possession far to easily and that's why we lose games.
We can't string two passes together.

The simple fact is that the players we have simply are not Championship standard.

The appointment was apparently Sadlers choice, some ITK have said Mansford wasn't as keen, but whoknows.

Thoughts after that… anyone who thought Appleton was the problem and wanted him out is a dickhead.

Under MM we’ve probably had two of the worst performances I’ve seen and for the board to think hes the answer with the players we have is terrifying.

We‘re free falling and it will take years to recover from this.

I agree Appleton was not a good appointment but he looks a World class Manager compared to McCarthy who in 6 games has added very little. I disagree we do have plenty of Championship standard players as Critch proved last season, what we needed is a Manager that can motivate and organise the current squad to get them to perform to their full potential. From what I have seen so far most of the creative players have gone backwards and that has to be down to McCarthy & TC.

Thoughts after that?

Well we’re going down quicker than the Titanic for a start off but it’s been coming.

I said at the start of the season without major team strengthening you could see it happening.

Two disastrous transfer windows when average at best players we’re brought in (I mean Bridcutt FFS) it’s been on the cards.

So Who’s to blame?

Board/owner for me they and they alone employed Appleton for far too long then they employed a manager in his twilight years who’s simply out for one more go.

Failed miserably to bring in the right players in two transfer windows loans are not the answer and questions have to be asked about the number of injuries we’ve been carrying all season.

Total clear out required for next season for life in league one.

And finally Simon if your staying for the long term please divert some of that training ground money to the squad next season or you’ll be in for a shock once again.

Why was Patino thrown straight back in to the starting 11 ? And to accomadate him we play poveda out of position isolated on the Wing trying to control goal kicks from maxwell

A fit Fiorini will make a big difference to our midfield. If we can get one of Bridcutt & Stewart on the pitch at the same time we might even start looking like a team who belongs in the Championship.

They are finishing the job Appleton started to be fair .
Appleton had delivered 26 points from 27 games when he was sacked, even a point of game from the remaining 19 games would have given us a reasonable chance of avoiding relegation. Appleton had to deal with an unprecedented level of injuries and suspensions. The squad McCarthy now has at his disposal is stronger and far more equipped for the Championship than the squad Appleton ever had, it is now time for McCarthy to deliver and put the first 6 games behind him and focus on the remaining 13 games.

Yep this season needs to end quickly as it is very painful to watch. Complete mess at times. It's like the players are unsure how to play and stuck somewhere in between Appleton and McCarthy. Only Nelson at the minute for me can hold his head high.
