I wanted it to work with Critch, and still do, but it’s coming to an end….

The thing is, all season I’ve thought we were 2 or 3 (5 or 6 for total squad) players short of being a real promotion contender.

Our home form has been good and most loses have been narrow results, the football has been grim mind.

But he goes, we get someone else in, he gets a few in on his first window but we are still short and others are not his players…… January and the support are gettting restless if the results don’t materialise and some want him out and a new man in, by this time next season he’s gone 2 , and we start again.

This was a project and no one said the project would happen overnight, but would the support give time to the right manager? We have no right to promotion and I feel if the results were not going the right way there would be limited time to any manger as there will be differences in how the game is played, tactics etc and “this team should be doing better”

Is the only way past this to buy our way out which Sadler won’t do (nor would I expect him to?)

There could be a fair few years of this until our project of our own players being ready to step up, as no one will get time

Not trying to justify Critch staying as he looks out of ideas, but can’t see much long term change at this rate

My view about retaining or losing Critchley lies solely around his benefits as a coach. Who has he improved? I will gladly demur to anyone who can find a player that he has improved but I can't name anyone.
That was supposed to be his strength.

Oh, and people who cited him managing Liverpool for a couple of games are...can't be arsed with the rest.

How can we look like a team of strangers so late in the season?

I really don't see any improvement of personnel or the players improving his chosen style of play and I would go as far as saying we are getting worse.

Unfortunately you're speaking my language. We should have been tails up throughout that match. Scaring Oxford, Lincoln and Stevenage. No. We were lilly livered and feeble.

I've always said I'd keep Critch to build a team this year(mainly cos I've never gone along with our squad being anywhere near as good as some think it is) and go for promotion next season after another window. I'm still gonna stick with that but for me next season we need to hit the ground running and be in the mix from the off. After 10/15 games if it's looking bleak then I'd wield the axe. On a different side of things, I'll also be a bit pissed off if we don't significantly strengthen too in the transfer window.

Through gritted teeth I think that's where we all are.

Some players have gone backwards, Marv for example wad touted for the Championship and even the Prem, now he barely looks League 2 standard. Critchley is setting these players careers back

I can’t think of one player that has improved. Last season most went backwards and this season Critchley should have instilled confidence back in them but he hasn’t.

Sadler's unwillingness or inability to fund good players, or share ownership to do so?

More ensured window flops.

Only a bit passed off?

Supine, with no season ticket boycotts threat, or incentive for the club to change.

Ekpiteta has improved massively in possession since the start of the season and so has Grimshaw. Other than that, I'm struggling...

There’s been too many games where we haven’t looked like scoring. With Rhodes we had someone who could score with one chance, without him we’ve been hopeless up front. We’ve missed chances but we still haven’t been creating enough clear opportunities.

I don’t want to watch a football team who keep the ball well but don’t look like scoring.

No offence intended. Did you go today? Marv dithered massively. I would say that Marv, in the centre of a 4-4-2 is mustard. I'd play him in the Championship. In this mobile back three - no way.
he dithered particularly once where a ball over his head he thought was gonna reach Grimshaw and it didn't bounce high enough for him to head it back even though he thought it would. And there was one other time where it was Grimshaw that caused him the problem. But aprt from that he was excellent blocking shots and getting to crosses into the box. And as Bamber has said he's improved on the ball too. He had a good game yesterday and is a top L1 centre half who imo could comfortably play in the Championship.

So, if Critchley stays, no season ticket?

Disagree that he's a top L1 CB but I guess we'll find out how highly he's rated as it's looking very likely he's off in the summer. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at somewhere like Wycombe or even back at Orient. Good luck to him whatever the case

The "project" was first time around, he blew that.

I think it's a case of better the devil you know in respect of Critch. Who is to say the next manager will be better or worse?.
Pool are the 4th or 5th highest scorers at home this season and there have been a couple of 0-0 with Rhodes missing.
For 70 minutes yesterday the football was dull. But as soon as the subs came on they were much more positive and finally Wycombe keeper had to make some saves. If only they played like that with more positivity from minute 1.
Away it's a different matter and clearly tactics need changing and need to stop being so negative-you need to test the keeper and not just have one shot on target in the whole match.
Biggest worry for me is who replaces the two stand out players next season with Dembele and Rhodes gone.

Not to worry ,looking on the positive side there is a possibility we could be at war and football will be stopped while the players go to fight or we could get nuked instead . Anyway if this does not happen we have the prospect of global warming .Now that's a certainty . With already have flooding in some parts of the world and forest fires in others ,there is no chance of avoidance .
In fact as we all carry on going abroad , burning fossel fuels and just basically help f@cking the planet ,we won't have to worry about our team after the next couple of years.

It's fine to hold a different opinion.

How many will make the step up?
I would suggest not many.
Apter maybe, Moore perhaps and an odd other. It simply won't happen at BFC.

I can accept not winning games and not getting promotion. What I can’t accept is the awful, negative football being served up. If we brought Dobbie (or anyone else in) and we played attacking football and didn’t make the play offs, that would actually be ok to me. At least we would be having a go. We have no plan and there is no progress at the moment.

You've got a season ticket 😆 pull the other one.
Unlike the insane, I chose not to buy a season ticket for Critchley's dross.

If the club offered me hundreds to watch?

I would instead pick the BBC Parliament channel for another sure way to sleep.

He’s here next season - it might be coming to an end in your head but as it’s not your decision- deal with it

Reform think climate change is a hoax, so I wouldn't put all your eggs in that basket 😉

He’s improved since then and now steady in most games. Or do you just want to bash critch for absolutely everything?
Which do you think improved him most, 39 appearances in 1 season for FGR or 14 appearances this season for us. Nothing to do with bashing Critchley, just facts. If you think Critchley is doing a great job smashing, knock yourself out. I don’t, simples.

The fact is we've scored one goal in 5 games and that was Pennington I think or Marv can't remember. That's why we're not in the play offs because Critchley just isn't flexible with his tactics. The team doesn't play fluidly enough for a 3-5-2.

Did I say that? Did I Fuk! He’s improved at FGR and again since back here. Do you understand that or do you always twist posts like half the dipsticks on here.

My first sentence was a question, my second was an opinion, my third another question. Where did I accuse you of anything and where did I twist anything?

You could say he improved Dembele, in fact, I would say he rescued his career. Dembele was hailed as a prodigy at Celtic but had lost his way and ended up as an impact sub at Brest, a relative backwater at Lg.Une.

Critchley brought him into the team slowly built up his fitness and confidence and he became one of the standout players in this league. He did a similar thing with Bowler. The thing is, I think that is what Critchley is good at and may be best advised going back to a similar role as he had at Liverpool.

I don't think Critchley is cut out to be a manager and in a way he admitted that by running off to Villa. I don't think he has the strength of personality and man-management skills. QPR was a basket case when he went there and that probably scarred him. He is a coach and probably a good one in the right environment. We need to finish the season and how we finish it may decide his future.

Whoever is the manager next season we need to overhaul the squad. The demands of Lg1 mean you have to be a bit more pragmatic, combine skill with with power and have the know how to get results when it becomes a physical battle. That is something we have sadly lacked especially away from home this season both on the pitch and in the dug-out.

The thing is, all season I’ve thought we were 2 or 3 (5 or 6 for total squad) players short of being a real promotion contender.
It was obvious in August we didn't have a goalscorer (and to take Joseph whilst he was injured now seems remiss!). Beesley is League Two at best, Lavery is too hit and miss and a bit of a crock and at that point we didn't have Rhodes.
Kouassi might get better but the priority must be two new strikers in the summer no matter what happens.

The essence of a coach is to create formations and tactics that promote consistent fluidity of movement, passing triangles, movement off the ball and the provision of cover. After virtually a whole season of Critchley, I see none of the above on a regular basis. I didn't see much of it in his first spell either. Aston Villa and QPR were also hopeless when he was inputting to their development.

Worst of all, he now perseveres in imposing a system that amplifies the weaknesses of our players, rather than their strengths.

Get rid before he does more damage.
