Time Madine was rested?

Won a few headers as well.

Emphasis on few. The first duel he won was on 69 minutes and even then we didn't keep possession.

Lavery literally had more success when balls were crashed towards him.

Madine's positioning off the ball is woeful. He very rarely breaks beyond a jog and he is never available for a pass in the build-up.

For me, Madine is one of the reasons Bowler was so poor last night. Kesh had Shane providing options, Josh had nothing to work with at all.

Always feel we need the big striker option, and whilst in theory we have a couple of others options on the books, really at this time he is the only option worth considering (unless Nuttal or TJJ step up but really 🤔😂) so for me keep him in the squad each week

Gary Madine is at his best going for an aerial cross coming in from the byline. I don’t think he has had one yet this season. With inverted wingers he won’t get any, hence all we see him do is hold up the ball and lay it off. He does that well enough, but I would to see how Pool would go with wingers on their natural side.

The idea that the tiny inexperienced winger Rob Apter should replace that vastly experienced and big Gary Madine is one of the weirdest notions I've ever seen on here.

I really like what I've seen of Rob Apter but I'm not sure playing him as a target man is going to be ideal for his career development. It would akin to playing Dan Grimshaw at right back or something.

The plain fact is, Gaz is good at stuff that no one else is. He is what he is. When he doesn't play, we often miss him. We essentially had no striker against Swansea and that's not the only time that's happened.

If Gaz was also fast, he'd be unplayable. He isn't. If Jerry was also 6ft 4 and strong as an ox, he'd be unplayable. He isn't.

The way we play requires some presence to make it work or a player to thread the needle. Madine has some presence. We don't currently set up with someone to thread the needle.

Ironic that we're calling for our 'supposed' highest earning player to be rested. Not sure many other clubs would be asking that.

It depends on if you feel that that player slows down the style of play. How much someone earns should not determine who gets the shirt. It certainly does not seem to be the case with Jerry.
