Just reading about the fact we should have a few 'holidaymaker' fans in on Saturday who are on their jollies and want to take in a game. So have you ever been away (here or abroad) and took in a game. We've done it a few times and probably the most memorable was Barcelona v Real Madrid which was quite the experience!

During the dark days of the protests, I went to quite a few at Bradford and also at Guiseley. It kept my football brain in order!

Was at my uncles funeral December 2019 in Barry, Wales me & his Grandson (Cardiff fan) went to Cardiff v Stoke

Inter Milan v Celtic some champions cup competition that took place in Ireland

Limerick v Man City
Limerick v MK Dons
Limerick v Charlton

Fleetwood twice to watch Blackpool reserves Alan Wright era, Manure v WBA with father in law (baggies were his home team) Plus Wolves V WBA Bryan Robson was still at WBA & Andy Gray was getting serious stick for playing around. Bolton v Fulham as we were visiting when they were at their so called best 🙄
That’s it I think 🤔
Oh just remembered Dingles v manure to see Best on one of his comebacks ( it was shit) guess we were in the area visiting relatives in Bolton.

Different times: when my Mum & Dad got married (St. Mary's church, Lytham Rd) there was no reception. In the afternoon the men from my dad's family, down from Scotland, went to the match at Bloomfield Rd.

Basel vs PSG
Juventus vs Lyon
Nice vs RB Salzburg

couple lesser known Austrian/Swiss games.

All in the same week as part of a road trip.

Boro v Wimbledon in the Prem free ticket bored shitless and Boro v Leicester League Cup final 1997 free ticket and travel.

About 7 years ago. Carlisle v Oldham at the end of the season, on a workmates stag do in hospitality.
Both teams were safe so had nothing to play for, the first half was absolutely dire, so we never came out of hospitality for the second half.

That first half was 45 minutes of my life I’ll never get back 😔

I was in Rio in 2002 and invited to attend a night game at the old Maracana stadium. I can’t remember the teams but it was a 1-1 draw. Inside the stadium the large moat separating the players from the supporters backed up by heavily armed police. The advice my friend gave going - ‘safe inside the ground, extremely dangerous outside the ground. Stay together!’

City v Arsenal at Maine Road and a T’Rovers game at Ewood in the Shearer years, can’t even remember who they were playing though it was that memorable 🙄

Man Utd quite a few times when I lived in Sale and worked for Trafford Council in the 1980s and couldn't make a Blackpool match. You could potg in those days.
Leeds, loads of times in the 1970s, when I was at uni there and couldn't make it to Blackpool
A few times watching my current local team, Lincoln, when I couldn't get up to Blackpool.
Barcelona v Seville.
Celtic v Rangers
Arsenal v Spurs
Liverpool v Everton
Roma v Naples

Leaving aside non league, been to Elland Rd a few times for European games.

Went to Burnden Park one Boxing Day to see them play Sunderland. Was on the away end. We'd been called off at Stockport and it was on the way back.

Bilbao v Athletic Madrid

My Dad took me to a few London games as a kid when he was working there in my school holidays from Blackpool.
QPR plastic pitch and Bruce Grobbelaar making a howler at Spurs brings back memories.

Tenerife couple of times.
Falkirk when visiting wife's family.
Liverpool.
Last game as a neutral was Birmingham v Hull as had tickets for the Prodigy that night.

My wife doesn't like football so I struggle when away so can't sneak a game in,a stadium tour on the other hand(SanSiro and Bayern) last two holidays abroad. 😁

Nobbers in the 60’s.
Went to several games and was normal in them days.
There was little rivalry as they were lower in Division 2 .
Abbots coaches even laid on buses from Fylde.

Arsenal back in the mid 70’s when after getting off the train heard the Blackpool game was off. Think it was v Orient. Went to Highbury to see a drab draw v Sunderland. Little did I realise that a few years later several of the Sunderland players would end up signing for Blackpool.

Remember a pool game getting cancelled due to frost so went to support Chester away at the nobbers on that god awful plastic pitch, not sure it counts as I was right behind Chester.

Been to a few others as a neutral and find it a bit weird.

I've been to 108 games up and down your country. With Blackpool playing in 39 of those, I've been a neutral for 69 games over there. I've also been to games in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Danmark, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Latvia, Poland, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Italy and USA, including four CL semi-finalds and a WC quarter-final.

When I was a student in Birmingham late 70s early 80s
Wolves v Chelsea
Everton v WHU (FA cup semi final at Villa Park)
Arsenal v Liverpool (FA cup semi final second replay at Highfield Rd, Coventry)
Birmingham City league game…can’t remember the opponents.
None of these were a substitute for watching the Pool, but as a young football fan, first time living away from home, it was a time to explore.

Motherwell a couple of times in the 70’s when visiting my Grandpa and Lazio v Empoli in 1998 on my honeymoon-can’t remember the score.. I was in love 😍!, The locals were a lot friendlier than on my visit to the Stadio Olympico the year before 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💥🥊

East stirling v Albion rovers
St austell v plymouth parkway
Whitby town v Curzon ashton
And games at Berwick. Wadebridge, Penrith, Belper, Paulton Rovers. I love a good non league game when on my hols.

From memory,
Torquay v Swansea (cracking League Cup tie, 5-3)
Falmouth Town v (IIRC) Launceston
Real Mallorca v Real Betis
Barcelona v Valencia
Ajax v Vitesse Arnhem
plus a few ManYoo & Citeh home games when I briefly lived there and you could walk on.

TSV Munich 1860 V Dirty in July 2000 Champions League Qualifer, Dirty won 1 nil courtesy of an Alan Smith goal. Funny watching the fans in the beergardens necking the Munich beer by the liter glass and then being hit by the strength of it most we’re either sleeping on the tables or totally incoherent!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Quite a few over the years mostly when I was at Uni and went with mates who supported one of the teams

Early 1990's
Liverpool v Everton a couple of times at the age of 16/17. In hospitality. Always supported Everton. Liverpool always won!
Liverpool v Genoa; UEFA Cup 2nd leg, Genoa won 2-1 on the night and were comfortably through; unbelievable atmosphere from both set of fans; possibly the best I've ever been in outside of homecoming. Electric doesn't even come close to describing it.

Mid 90's onwards (The University years)

Rovers v Derby (in the home end but with Rovers and DC supporting friends) Think it was a draw.

York v Rotherham in the 1st round of the FA Cup; 3-3 absolute cracker. Decent group of neutrals stuck in the corner between both sets of fans (technically in the home end) - supporting both teams. Late Rotherham equaliser if memory serves.

Scunthorpe v Plymouth - Plymouth end, Plymouth won. In my Blackpool top; "'Ear you take a wrooong turn or summit?"

Bolton v Norwich - League cup QF, Norwich end, Bolton won. Cracking atmosphere gutted about the result. David Lee did exactly what I thought he would with minutes to go, jinxed down the wing, cut inside and scored- bastard.

2000's onwards

Middlesbrough v Spurs; in the away end (again!) Worst atmosphere from a set of home fans I can remember; there was a bat flying around and I thought it appropriate. More like a graveyard than a library. Spurs won.

Newcastle v somebody; I can't remember, hospitality; Newcastle won.

2012 Olympic Football; South Korea v someone and another match double header. Couldn't get tickets for any other sport but wanted my eldest two to have the chance to attend something. So up to St. James' Park. Awful football, awful atmosphere, but they got to see one of the Olympic Mascots and the South Korean one, so not wasted and I'd do it again for the same reasons.

loads. Living in London, mid-80s I went to Stamford Bridge a few times, Plough Lane a lot (closest ground), and a smattering at Highbury, White Hart Lane, Selhurst Park and Brisbane Rd. Then living in Scotland (early 90s) I did a lot of ground ticking.

Everton v Coventry in old 1st Div when we got called off due to frozen pitch, nearest game that was still on.
Oldham v Newcastle in the plastic pitch days - suspect we were off as well that day due to bad weather
Few games abroad in Germany, Austria and Czech Rep
Couple of nobbers games when dragged along by a mate - again plastic pitch days - there's a theme here!!
Liverpool v Everton league cup semi
Oldham v Forest league cup final (non-corporate just went for a day out!)
Gretna v Albion Rovers - just went to see Dr Deuchar score!
Leeds v Genoa (pre season friendly) - mate is a Leeds fan - must;ve been the Howard WIlkinson days I reckon.

Liverpool v Barcelona 1976 UEFA Cup semi final. Bus from 6th form organised by Russ Turner, the Liverpool fan. Everyone else was a Blackpool fan.

Oldham v Nottm Forest League Cup Final 1990. Family ties to Oldham. Rang up to ask about a coach from Oldham and was told they were using a Hambleton company so got on first 😉

Atletico M v Real M Champions League Final 2014 or 15. I was hardly a neutral as the scumbags Ramos and Ronaldo were playing.

Also figure this one out-
Leicester v Burnley, went in the away end as the home was sold out. Asked to be put in the home. Shouted for Leicester

Leicester v Forest. Home end shouted for Forest.

Forest v Arsenal. Home end shouted for Arsenal.

Yours, confused offa FY8

Working in Manc in 1958 (I think)I went with a couple of guys to watch Manure x Bolton W.
BW won 2-0 😁
I was the only one smiling.

When still at school in the very early 70s went to home games at Burnley & Bolton quite a few times when visiting relatives of my Mum who lived in East Lancs. Her brother was football mad and used to drag me along even though my heart was already Tangerine.

Man City v Borussia Muchengladbach in Champions League a couple of years back. City won 4-2. Atmosphere was soulless

As a student in Cardiff For 4 yrs went to most matches at Ninian Park.
Some great games and good atmosphere. Always a neutral !

loads - ex was a Newcastle fan saw Newcastle x Villareal friendly, Newcastle x Spurs and WIgan X spurs with her

another lass at Uni was a Bradford fan and dragged me to Liverpool x Bradfrod the season Bradford were in the prem! A few Chelsea fans with a best mate,

if abroad I always try to find a game ... watched a game in Sweden once - Sundsval ??? Spain Atletico Madrid X Bilbao (Torres in his first spell there) Portugal - lisbon I saw a pre season friendly Beleneses x Standard Leige

A few but I’m not a massive football fan unless I really care who wins, it just seems a bit boring unless it’s a high scoring game, the only exception was Roma v Chelsea in the champions league around 5 years ago, I was in Rome with my youngest & he gets bad migraines so when it happened this time we just got on a city tour bus to relax , migraine didn’t get any better so we just got off the bus at a random spot to go to a chemist, outside the chemist was a Roma stall selling tickets that hadn’t been sold, got 2 & went, weird how things happen like that
Roma 3 Chelsea 0 great stadium & atmosphere, just a bit scary getting the tram to the ground full of Roma fans, then being in the home end

When I was at uni I went to a few Coventry games at Highfield Road. Wore my Blackpool woolly hat to a game against PNE where Coventry won 4-1. Preston fans gave me shit at the start but got increasingly quiet as the game went on.

Protest years I went a few Rotherham games including the night they beat Preston in the play off semis. Mate that supports Shrewsbury came up to Rotherham and I went in the away end with him when they got a last minute winner.

Went Shrewsbury’s old ground for a feisty match with Chester with the same mate when we didn’t have a game. Proper naughty atmosphere. Chester fans throwing cups of piss on Shrewsbury’s corner takers. Fun and games

Used to go with a mate watching Trovers during the Premier years, also been to a few Malaga games, as I have a place their & always told you support your local team......

Wasn't that the night Koudo ran on the pitch with a Blackpool shirt on over to the Nobbers? 😂

Also had a Brighton based uncle, in late 79/80s so went to a few at the Withdean & a few away games with him too. Millwall @ the old den circa 1978 was an ordeal, also circa 1980 against Southampton St the Dell was, err tasty!

Did his migraine clear in time for the game?

Accrington Stanley v Crewe at Ewood Park - FA Cup early 90’s.
Also Fleetwood in an FA Cup game same era from memory.
FA Cup Final Cardiff v Portsmouth
Think I watched Fylde once as well - apart from the Accrington Game I didn’t enjoy any of them as nothing compares to the buzz of watching Pool.
