And is likely to improve every season. The best we can do but still not good enough for this level. You’re right though, the pitch (when not frozen) is the best it’s been for a while.

Fans only moan about ticket prices because they want the club to have as many fans as possible. Not a bad idea.
Why don't the fans put their hands in their pockets.
Rather than moaning about ticket prices?
What broken legDidn't Wigan's benefactor use the compo from his broken leg to pay for the undersold heating?
It’s like hitting yourself on the head Pete, your glad when you stop. The pitches are in full sun and they're kids not million pound players, FFS I give up!!
I agree. All planned to give Big M more time to work with the squad imo.
Of course it's tinpot in these times, but we need to maximise any opportunities that present themselves
I think we'd have been better playing today, and I doubt it was tactical .This is why, stop ** moaning, it makes total sense if you understand why.
You have to understand that the majority of the ground is covered from the sun at this time of year by the stands, it's not just last night's frost, it is a cumulative effect over several nights, once the frost is in the soil and temperatures stay belo freezing or just above for some of the time then the ground will get harder and harder, deeper and deeper. It is no surprise to me the game is off, temperatures on the pitch will probably not been above zero for however long the frost has been there, if it was down here it is 6 days now and the ground, even in the sun is absolutely rock hard.
I know a lot are upset because of the new manager syndrome but ou would all be moaning like fuck if we lost 3 players to injury because of it. It is the right decision and MM can now really get stuck in with the training and go and have a free hit next week before our next league game. The euphoria of his first home match ill just have to wait.
100% this I'm amazed at the number of fans that didn't realise we don't have under soil heating.I think we'd have been better playing today, and I doubt it was tactical .
Obviously we don't have under soil heating, and the reason is equally obvious, and has already been done to death in this and other threads.
I live locally, and my lawn is still frozen solid, and it's exposed to the sun. So I was disappointed but not at all surprised.
Not tactical, referee’s decision following inspectionI posted in another thread, but this one seems most apt!! The whole infrastructure needs change. I phoned up at 10:15 this morning and bought a ticket and asked if there was any doubt as I was travelling 2 hours to get there, to which the guy in the ticket office said “nah it’s fine here…” with a laugh. Half hour later I hear it’s called off. ** joke. The ground staff also posting pics of the covers on last night to give hope.
Something in me thinks it’s a bit tactical to give McCarthy more time with the players, but I think the atmosphere and buzz generated for today would have meant more than that
There is absolutely no comparison between ground in direct sunlight and that in permanent shade at this time of year. Half my lawn is playable, but the other half is rock solid. It doesn't need a rocket scientist to figure it out.The Club is going to be renamed Blackpool Amateur Football Club.
Btw. The grass verges in Bispham are perfectly playable.
What a bunch of clowns. How about the club reimbursing people for all of the expense they've already incurred trying to get to the game.
Barrow P-P
The heaters we have at the club are you numpty. The majority of teams in the EFL who don't have undersoil heating their games are off today. Is that too difficult for your minuscule brain to understand?
David Whelan, former owner of Wigan, broke his leg in the FA cup final playing for the RoversWhat broken leg

That's my point. Those comparing park pitches are laughable. You don’t have to play a Championship football match on your lawn though Wiz.
Exactly, a lot of folk commenting that don’t even live on the fylde coast. if the game had been due to be played Wednesday Thursday or Friday it would have been on , simply because it was reasonably mild and no frost, there was a light ground frost last night, nothing more , which has now thawed, it is now +5 , game should have been played simple as that, we have played in a lot colder conditions. anything else is just politics. There has not been several nights of frost in Blackpool this week only one other night I can remember as I’m out in the car at 8 am and last night was minus 1 not minus 8 as someone has said .This is a shambles and I really hope it doesn’t cost us later on !
UNDERSOIL BLOODY HEATING. Just in case you misread the smaller print in about 40 previous mentions.embarrassing from the club, we’re the only ground in the championship off and it’s much colder elsewhere. It was -3 in Wigan last night and they’re still on.
If it was intentional to give mick more time that’s also a mistake. Ground would have been bouncing today.
I would dearly love to think this is the beginning of our new dawn of using shithousery to get every last advantage we can. The reality is that we are also seeing the dead hand of the Oystons at work.No doubt in my mind we wanted it off.
Your wrong wiz, I can assure you that no grass , mud, soil , whatever anywhere in Blackpool is frozen solid, it just simply hasn’t been cold enough. That's my point. Those comparing park pitches are laughable.
Is this the first anti Mccarthy Post ?Seriously you think it’s OK?
They have heaters, they have used them before.
Big Mick has bottled it that’s the reason
You didn't hear? I'll tell you all about it sometime!!What broken leg
Whoosh!David Whelan, former owner of Wigan, broke his leg in the FA cup final playing for the Rovers
Well, that was a well kept secretDavid Whelan, former owner of Wigan, broke his leg in the FA cup final playing for the Rovers

I'm in Blackpool, the top inch of my lawn is frozen solid and hasn't thawed, there was also a 2 inch thick layer of ice on the pond, and that's not thawed either.Your wrong wiz, I can assure you that no grass , mud, soil , whatever anywhere in Blackpool is frozen solid, it just simply hasn’t been cold enough.
Ref decided and that is all there is to it. It was a selloutNot tactical, referee’s decision following inspection
just looking at last night's temp recordings and minus 2 was the lowest, still minus 1 at 9:30 this morning with a high of 3 degrees this afternoon. Begs the question if the covers are fit for purpose? It’s the only championship game called off, so a bit embarrassing and something the board should be looking at.
I've travelled and just been down to the ground and there's a full scale practice match going on on the pitch. It’s the only championship game called off, so a bit embarrassing and something the board should be looking at.
yes because it's had direct sun light all day. My lawn is still frozen because house and hedge block the light.I think the Ref has taken a bung off Simon from the say so of big Mick.
Just come in from taking my Dog a walk and the field I go on which was white and rock hard at 9am this morning has all thawed out now.
No sign of frost anywhere.
Amateur lawn careJust been out on the lawn for the daily dog scooping & even where the sun has been is still quite crunchy & the shaded area’s still covered in frost & solid. Granted I didn’t have frost covers on it.
Well said 'Sir' SimonIf you need a target to whinge at, go for those former owners who between them took north of £60M out of the club.
Don't slag off the guy who has :
Replaced the pitch
Funded the squad and signings through the dreadful income of COVID
Spent a fortune making the stadium look better ( with help from a great bunch of volunteers)
Stumped up for a new training ground
Refurbed and massively upgraded the existing training ground
Planned and part funded a new East stand
All out of his own pocket
And if you can do better, please put your hands in your pockets and fund undersoil heating. And anyone not knowing we don't have undersoil heating must be a newby band waggon jumper.
Nah no chance not having it, too much fighting in the bell vue on a pool night, it’s blurred your visionI'm in Blackpool, the top inch of my lawn is frozen solid and hasn't thawed, there was also a 2 inch thick layer of ice on the pond, and that's not thawed either.
In defence of Pete, he's not usually shy of pointing out the errors the club make! Last night he was getting told to give the questioning of the set up a rest... He can't win!The Walt Disney Corporation has tabled a bid to buy the club.
Stop trying to defend the indefensible.
This is a balls up. Have the integrity to acknowledge it.
Hope you don't mind me nicking it
Fuck off Col, and it was champs not bell vueNah no chance not having it, too much fighting in the bell vue on a pool night, it’s blurred your vision
To be fair, the Manager said it was Richie O’Donnell’s Team and that Richie was in charge for today’s match..
Today’s game was probably as important a game as we’re going to play all season….
So do we want to go into it with a weakened squad and a ream cobbled together by one of the coaching staff or do we want to go into it when Mick has had chance to sort the squad and stamp his mark on the Team?
I think this is one where the Fans have to put their personal disappointment to one side and focus on the bigger picture…
We need to make sure every home game (for the rest of the season) is bouncing, regardless
Good point BFC BFC BFC, More time to work with the players and decide where to go. I get that.To be fair, the Manager said it was Richie O’Donnell’s Team and that Richie was in charge for today’s match..

Apart from my sister's just off Preston New Road. Funny that, just the one garden.Your wrong wiz, I can assure you that no grass , mud, soil , whatever anywhere in Blackpool is frozen solid, it just simply hasn’t been cold enough.
