Today 20 Years ago.

Remember it like it was yesterday watching it in a friends apartment in Munich with 10 other England fans don’t think the neighbours were too happy with the rowdy English noise! I remember it never stopped pissing it down all day long didn’t dampen Englands performance that night 👏👏

I was in Keswick on a stag do. We watched the game in the hostel we were staying in, then had a fantastic night around the bars and clubs.

Yep, watching it at my mates with my young daughter who pestered me throughout the game to buy her a scooter. At half time, 2-1 up. I said, 'if we win 5 -1, I'll buy you a scooter'.

'kin expensive game.

Hard to believe it’s that long ago now. Back when England shirts just had numbers on the back.

Strange game. We could easily have been 2-1 down at half time - great save by seaman just before Gerrard scored.

That left the Germans chasing, much like England ended up doing after lampards non goal.

As above, Sven was ultimately a failure - that game against Brazil. 😟

I could not believe it tbh. Amazing match and result. Cannot believe it was so long ago. Also today, it is 24 years since Bolton played Everton in the first match at the then named Reebok stadium. A fan of them told me today.

I was there, four of us (one being Westby) drove from Poulton setting off at tee-time on the Thursday night to catch the Euro tunnel at Folkestone & drive through the night to arrive in Munich 9am Friday morning.
Can still hear the “Great Escape” ringing out from the England Section in rail seating, as the teams came off the pitch at HT after Gerrard scored.
Also the rendition of 🎵 “Hey Baby……I wanna know if you’ll be my girl”🎵 at HT too under the BBC commentary box.
Two nights in Munich and an overnight stop in St Omer on the Sunday night on the way back.
What a Result! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
What a Trip!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
What a Memory!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

It definitely wasn’t pissing it down all day. We were sat outside drinking all day! The next away game at Bratislava definitely was though

Travelled in to Munich by train. Joined at Frankfurt with Chelsea’s own ‘Dog’s Bollocks’ bar owner from Thailand ( he got off one stop early to avoid a reception committee). Bouncing the night before as always and the day of the game was a marathon. It was 20 yrs ago and so a full on stone island convention from England. Which made it easy for the Germans to target anyone. And they did in numbers.
Hearing the Great Escape being whistled by hundreds as they came up an escalator from the underground into Marienplatz was spine tingling. Was in the ‘wrong end’ at the game. I had no idea Owen got a hat trick until walking out after 🤣 No sleep after the match and back at work on Monday morning

Was flying to Florida during the match,on arrival the pilot announced the score and everyone thought he had it the wrong way around.
