Todays referee

Ref was good but the lack of total diving and cheating helps loads
Apart from a fee minor things, he didn't have a great deal to do.

A few times their throw ins wnd hald were right in th corner yet he did nothing when it was taken from half way you the pitch.

He did fine with what he had to do. There weren't many contentious moments.

Agree with JJ though, the throw in thing needs looking at. One late on especially where Shayne chased one to the corner flag and tapped out for a throw. Never more obvious where it should be taken from but it was eventually launched from between the pen spot and 18 line.

All teams do it. Cal Connolly is world champ. Stop players running and make them stand still with two feet set.

There were a few times when Burton players were pulling our shirts with no punishment, but pool players were booked for the same offence .
Norburn and Dougall were rightly booked as was their man for pulling back Lavery. Beesley's yellow was harsh, and their no 8 should have had a yellow second half. Apart from those two mistakes the ref was very good.

Did OK apart from a few inconsistencies in bookings, as above their nr 8 should have got at least a yellow, but escaped with nothing

When we tried to take a free kick quickly (in front of the West stand) he made us retake the kick from the "right place ", thereby giving Burton time to get set. The second kick was taken from the same spot as the first, but he allowed it.

Otherwise OK, didn't have a lot to do.

Inconsistent, not as bad as many we've seen but refs need to step up their game considerably
Yeah inconsistent is how I saw it - horrendous sliding tackle going completely unpunished and yet a few of our yellows were harsh. Think I heard there were 12 yellows in one game yesterday .. lot of suspensions this season!

Championship referee standards were woeful last season, we can expect worse in League 1. With that said, I thought the ref was OK. He was a little inconsistent with some of decisions and appeared more happy to book our players but overall didn't make any howlers and allowed the game to flow pretty well. We'll have a lot worse that is for sure..

He was a bit too happy with his yellow where sometimes a warning suffices, as he showed at times for Burton 🙄

Exactly my thoughts
