We recently spoke to Tom Aldred about his time at Blackpool as we wanted to get a perspective of what it was like during the boycott years.

It’s really interesting to hear his thoughts on the dwindling crowds, toxic atmosphere and ever-changing playing squad - and how Gary Bowyer galvanised a side coming off back-to-back relegations. At the time, it seemed like we could end up in non-league.

Feedback appreciated in the comments below!

Interesting listen, shame that leaders like Tom Aldred played for our great club during such a dark era.

I remember the old AVFTT site, quite a few on there did want that.
Agreed. I was always of the view that the higher in the pyramid we were when the Oystons left, the better able we were to attract a buyer and also start to compete as a proper football club.

Non league would have been a disaster. Just look at the National League and the number of ex League clubs who have been unable to bounce back.

Totally agree although torque- ah fuck it I can’t spell it & I’m not asking Alexa again ( she’s getting pissed off with me like every other woman in my life) away was always a great away weekend,‘stealing four poster beds etc, then you’ve got Wrexham with Ryan Reynolds ( probably spelled wrong again) my man “crush in a totally non gay context way, but you’ve got to admit he is gorgeous, I hate marvel films but deadpool is laugh out loud funny then you have deadpool 2 which is always going to be a letdown but is actually even funnier then I’m off to bed as I’ve overdone it on the babysham and coke in a non narcotics way

100% Wizz - I know a few wanted us to lose against Exeter which I always found strange because I think we all knew by that point the end game was in sight anyway.
