Tom Trybull put in the window

For the record, I doubt Norwich would want him. The post was more to point out the fact he was available on a free.

Bleedin obvious!
Let me guess. Despite past heroics, last season he treated us to performances in which he was a largely anonymous figure, and games just seemed to completely 'pass him by'.

So (and correct me if I'm wrong), you're basically making the point that, despite 'possibly' returning to his old stomping ground (i.e. from over TWO YEARS ago), there is absolutely no room for sentiment and we really have to be looking at releasing him, because, sad as it may be, he is now well and truly passed his sell-by date.

I'm just so glad we're on the same wavelength.

I will correct you cos youre wrong.

Dougall made 40 appearances in the Championship season when we finished 16th. A league above our current level. Finished a year ago. And we had the same manager we have now. I cant ghink of a single player who performed as well last season as the previous season, and the reasons for that are obvious. Writing him off in these circumstances is ridiculous. Critch values him in the system he likes to play.

Meanwhile, Trybull has completed 90 minutes for us once.

It's not unusual for players to have release clauses in their contracts, like they can leave for a set fee or free, that are triggered upon relegation, not achieving promotion etc. I'm not saying it's true in Tybull's case but it could be 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wasn't it our former keeper Mark Howard who signed for Bradford for £1 due to a similar clause in his Blackpool contract.
Doyle, just can't remember his first name

Is being put in the window some sort of punishment like the ‘cooler’ in The Great Escape??

In their efforts to try and instil a greater level of determination and resolve to their squad, following the disappointment of relegation from the Championship towards the end of last season, Blackpool FC appeared to have landed the ideal candidate to assist them with this objective when they successfully managed to secure the signature of tough-tackling German midfielder Tom Trybull. Although lacking match fitness, after being sidelined through injury for a lengthy period at his previous club, he was immediately put through a vigorous programme of preseason training to prepare him for the demands of the 2023/4 campaign, and, to begin with, everything appeared to be progressing well.

Yet, sadly, and despite the promising start, one or two 'niggling' issues began to surface, not the least of which was the continuing contact that was taking place between the player and certain fans of one of his previous clubs, English side Norwich City.

During his time with the Canaries, Trybull established himself as a highly influential figure in the dressing room, whilst also becoming something of a fans' favourite, and, it was here, that problems started to emerge with his current club, Blackpool FC.

As soon as the story began to break about his move to the Fylde Coast, Trybull started receiving countless messages from the Norwich City fanbase, with the majority being from well-wishers expressing fond memories of the times he'd spent with their club. And yet, what started as something of a trickle, steadily began to build into what can only be described as a deluge, with Bloomfield Road Stadium being bombarded with text messages, phone calls, letters, postcards - you name it!

With the situation becoming increasingly out of hand, the management at Bloomfield Road felt they really had to act and manager Neil Critchley was told by the powers-that-be that he really needed to speak with Trybull directly asap.

Despite feeling the club were being a little alarmist, Critchley felt he was left with little choice other than to do as he had been instructed. And so, he was quickly on the phone, and, after a brief chat, both parties agreed to meet, around mid-afternoon, at the manager's office.

The agreed time quickly arrived, and, after a very cordial shaking of hands, the manager and his young charge sat down to do business.

"Right then, Tom, I'm not gonna beat around the bush (that's a phrase we use here in England and it means ...)

"Yes, boss. I know that phrase," Tom assured him. "I learn it from a book."

"Oh - right. I'll skip the translation, then. And we'll move straight on to the thing we're here to discuss.
Basically, I've been told to have a word with you about all these messages you've been receiving from Norwich City fans. You were clearly a very popular character during your time there, which is great, but, I'm sorry Tom, the whole affair is just becoming totally unmanagable. I mean, the office staff here just can't cope. It's got to stop."

Tom had sensed the meeting was going to be about something along these lines, and he had prepared accordingly.

"Boss, I understand what you are saying and I have thought about it alot. We have both been in football a long time and we know some of the problems that can happen - and we know what we can do about some of them. For example, there is the strong bond you make with your colleagues and with the fans, and yes, this can sometimes get a bit out of control. As it did here. Because you inevitably form such bonds. Cos that is the nature of football. Or, as you say here in England, "It's a tribal thing..."

Yet the person who wrote it is a Norwich fan who clearly wants him back there.
I think he'd be a decent signing - bit of experience up top has always served us well in the past.

Let’s not misread this situation. Before his long term injury in Germany, TT was an important central midfielder and absolutely upper Championship arguably lower Prem quality player.

However the question (just like Bridcutt and Stewart were) is, can he recover from that injury? If yes and this full pre season has resolved everything then wow we have a strong defensive midfielder on our hands. If not then we have another player that will struggle to play more than 5 games.

It does seem in these days of elite athletes that very few players genuinely recover from a season long injury and are then good to go?
