Tony Cunningham vs Nob End 1987

I was reminded of TC’s challenge last night; he got sent off, even though he was challenging for the ball and was apologetic.

We were whupping them that day, and only won 3-0 as a consequence…I am still bitter about it!

It is odd how we are often in the debit side when things like this happen.

While I wouldn’t wish ill will on their player, I wouldn’t be saddened if he experienced a degree of karma.

It may happen. Anderson soon got his Karma last night for that embarrassing blatant cheating while trying to buy a free kick. ;)

I can still hear the howl that went up when TC got red. I think only 1-0 at that point? God knows what the score would have been otherwise.

Alan Kelly the cheating get stayed down until the ref sent TC off, we comfortably beat them anyway Allardyce,Worthington and all.

Football archives just uploaded this match highlights on YouTube about an hour ago.

Cunninghams“challenge” is shown aswell

Five or six years before my time at Bloomfield Road so it’s fascinating to see all these old clips.

Check out the channel archive there are plenty of old pool matches uploaded

Was a great forward line with Walwyn, TC and Taylor. Taylor was amazing and never recovered from an injury (likely one that now is a standard fix). Walwyn was quite old when he came. I always thought how good he must have been a few years earlier. Think he played for York ? Was still very good when with us..

2-0 up after 20 mins and all over them that day. I'm convinced we'd have got our record score if TC hadn't been sent off by Roger Dilkes. I used to get the end of season VHS videos, I wish I'd kept them now. The lad who did the commentary was a regular in the Waterloo, great lad. On a couple of occasions when we scored he'd drop the mike and you'd see him jumping about on the cinder track.

Thanks Ormer, first time I've seen that since the day.

From the South at the time it wasn't obvious why TC went. From the side on view in the East I can see what made the ref give it, although it appears he was just trying to lift his trailing leg over Kelly and missed.

Lovely ball from their CH to set him up though.

This is a good one...

Great night 👍🏻
Remember when they'd hit the bar and Tony Daws put the rebound wide Neil Frogget said "turning point, we're gonna win!"
The away game was better though.
Absolutely battered em, should easily have been 4-0 to us only for it to end 1-1

Yes LA Mark Taylor has his own physio practice now and you are right about his injury, whilst visiting him he told my wife exactly that , today's
treatment has advanced considerably,
p.s my wife told him I was a Blackpool fan and he asked did I remember him !!!!!!!
I certainly do Mark .

I loved that era at Blackpool highlights included a rare away win down at Bristol City and Keith Walwyn got a brace. Rarely missed home or away around that time.

Still got the 87/88 season VHS and even though it’s before my time (dad bought it) I love watching it every now and then. The guy on commentary is brilliant.

Its posts like this and the Fleetwood 1980 thread that just about keep me on this site. Not modern day posts about a moan fest about losing to Wycombe or whoever. ** great day this one. After the game there was two police escorts when they'd rounded everyone up. PNE got taken up the Prom, we got taken up Hornby Rd and Park Rd to the Bus Station then left alone to have a wonder. I was 17 and if memory serves, the pubs didn't open until 7pm . Rumour was The Macc Lads who were banned from playing anywhere were playing live from the back of a van outside North Pier that night. They did eventually but I missed them, went to Yates's when it opened then to the No 3 for a ten men three bastards nil sing a long. Top day . Had that season video. Highlights including the PNE game, Sunderland pitch invasion, Newcastle home and away. Bishop Auckland and Northwich Victoria and Scunthorpe away in the Cup where they missed the biggest own goal ever. Man City home and away in Round 4. Some shockers like PNE away on Boxing Day and throwing away a 3-0 lead at home to Gillingham. Great days when we were mostly shit!!
