For a fan that just missed out on the Tony Diamond era, what was it that puts him in the "worst Blackpool player of all time"category that a lot of fans place him in. From only looking at the record books (thank you Roy Calley) he only played 3 games for us, and in one of those games he scored a goal.

He didn't want to be here. Must have been his agent pushing the thick ** to sign. I remember TD saying he should have signed for Cambridge, basically he threw a strop and never wanted to play and the manager thought him a ** and never wanted to play him.

We should have a thread on players who didn't want to play for us, but were under contract. TD is one, James Quinn another.
 
Will people stop posting about Tony Diamond. I spend months trying to erase him from my memory, and then there he is again .

I think he was over-awed when we first signed him, so left after 3 games...
Months later in the Tangerine Nite Spot:

@Curryman 's joke ran, "We should have re-signed him!"
"Why?" asks a younger fan.
"Well, had we signed him again, he would have been..."
Younger naive fan (first time in the Tangerine Nitespot) pauses and then happlily shouts, "We'd have Double Diamond!"
Wilf nods, "Yes please and a chaser please."
 
I went to Mansfield away and we signed Diamond and Gabiadini before the game. They were immense and both scored. Think we won 3 nil away. Then Diamond decided he should have moved elsewhere and Gabiadini didn't remain long before his loam finished and he went back to Sunderland.

You're not far off there pal, he turned up and played against my Sunday league side in the Lancashire Cup over in the Bury/Rochdale area and even our pub team defenders were comfortable marking him. 😂
