Tony Weston joins DCFC

Another big team. Will he get any meaningful games. Thought he would be lower down the pyramid where he can play regularly.

Very predictable that he'd get bombed out by Rangers, said the same when he signed for them. Can’t blame him for leaving though as we don't have a great track record for bringing youngsters into our first team. I hope he gets he career going either at Derby or out on loan somewhere else

An article a week ago was saying he was on trail at Derby with a view to signing for their U21 development squad so it will be unlikely that he makes many League One apperances. Maybe will get a chance in that lower league cup competition that got diluted with Premier League kids teams.

I absolutely understand his moving from Blackpool.

But having moved to Rangers and not made it there, he clearly has “I want to be at a big club” syndrome.

When will these lads learn, it’s playing first team football at a reasonable level (even league 2 or National league) that gets you a career - not this under 21 shite

He's a footballing year behind Rob Apter so time for him yet. They actually went to the same school and IMO are very similar players. I think he was at BFC Academy from a very young age but took the option of a pro-contract at 16 (it's 17 in England) to play for his hero Steven Gerrard.

Really good question so i looked it up and in short the answer is nowhere according to wiki, he played 29 games for various clubs and scored 1 goal whilst at Falkirk before ending up at Warrington Town in 2021. Coaching at BWFC now.

A player I thought would have been much better advised staying with us at the time.
I suppose in reality though, given our poor record of producing players back then, by going to Stoke he has at least earned a bit more money from the game before his career petered out?
