Transfer deadline day thread

Can't see Thorniley being involved either, which is probably why we've upped our bid.

We lost Viking and need Thorniley for cover.

I'd be interested to see if we would consider dangling Robson to them.

Robson's probably worth around 250k~. If we offered him plus the 800k that we've already bid then we'd be much closer to their evaluation plus they wouldn't have to worry about finding a replacement.

900,000 would probably be fair if he didn't have a release clause. Now the date for his release clause to be triggered has passed, you'll have to pay above that.
Yep, in a world where clubs just accept bids for players at their face value he'd have been a Blackpool player weeks ago, but that world doesn't exist.

Promotion to the Championship (which is very realistic for you lot this year) is worth much more than 900,000 for Brannagan right now and refusing to sell is 110% the logical thing to do from your perspective.

We have made an improved bid for brannigan this afternoon after this mornings bid rejected his agent saying to blackpool come and get him.

I just hope, whatever the outcome with Brannagan, that we've not put all our eggs in one basket, we need to strengthen in midfield and if it's not going to be him, we really need someone else instead

Well theres Norburn and Kilkenny and others have been mentioned. Fulton, and Ebou Adams.

Do you think our regine is daft enough to put every egg in one unsuitable container? Have some faith. ;-)

It's getting embarrassing. Hes a decent player but he's untried at this level and we're risking a sizeable sum on it paying off. Norburn, from what I've seen, has stepped up to this level but is surrounded by players who haven't. Brannagan looks too small to me and was bullied against us and we're hardly the toughest of teams to play. Norburn and Kilkenny plus keeping Thorniley and Bowler will rescue this window.

Rescue?!

Embarrassing trying to sign players?

Oxford look set to sign Northern Irish CM/CAM, Oisin Smyth.

Could have been a long term target so might not mean anything, but interesting nonetheless.
We often sign a younger "development" type player when it's likely that one or two of the main stays are set to move on.

Mark Sykes is out of contract in the summer and won't sign a new contract as it stands. Smyth feels more of a readymade replacement for him especially being a part-time footballer so won't be ready to feature regularly for a few weeks.

Of course with Thorniley playing for you at the weekend, that means he can't move elsewhere now because of the 2 club rule which will limit his current value and arguably strengthen our hand in wanting a bigger fee for Brannagan before any swap suggestion.

No, you're right Voy, I'm sure they're not daft enough to put all our eggs in a Brannagan shaped container 😉 and you're right about the others mentioned, time will tell, but it's starting to run away 🤞

We've signed Dale who has so far looked well out of his depth. So much so we said have him back until they said take him for peanuts. Kirk never played at this level so another punt and a Lg2 striker who didn't make the squad on Saturday. Anderson and Carey crocked and Husband. No left backs. Grettarson and Mitchell sold. So currently we are weaker than at the start of the window. Lots to do to rescue this window and improve the squad, as was the goal.

How can that strengthen your hand? You are saying he's not for sale. Bit confused!!

We drew with Fulham on Saturday with copious amounts of new signings and injuries. Give it a rest. Nothing requires saving. We're 1 or 2 wins away from easily staying up.

Welcome back. 🤣

Rescue this window? What utter tosh. We ve taken 7 points from the last 9, are all but safe, getting plaudits and moving upwards.
Apart from Nuttall, all the agreed players that perhaps needed to go have gone.
Bowler hopefully not going and Kirk, Dale and Beesley permanent signings and all good young prospects.
I'm my book that's a pretty excellent window. One more for midfield and happy days. Rescue? Hah

The longer it goes without the murmurings the bid has been rejected, the more it feels like we are getting close. Over on their forum they are trying to suggest he'll stay because the fishing scene is better. Don't get me wrong there are some great spots to dangle your maggot but I doubt they are any better than those around the Lake District and Ribble Valley.

I don't think you'll find a bigger set of cunts than Oxford fans tbh.

Matthews the 32 yr old veteran has been from Stoke rumoured. I thought we were in to buying young players. He will be finished in a couple of years. Waste of £12,000 if it happens. All I need to hear after shovelling a foot of snow off my drive.

Don't go anywhere near razor blades at the moment kid👍🏻

Perfect match for their manager.

For example, if you guys rate Thorniley at say 400k and are offering let's say 500k plus Thorniley so a total transfer of 900k.
The fact that Thorniley can only play for us or you again this season, means we have the upper hand for negotiating the Thorniley worth to the deal.

If you value him too highly within the deal i.e. not offering enough for CB, then we simply keep saying no and he stays with you for the rest of the season and CB stays with us. You can't say/threaten that there is interest for Thorniley from elsewhere to pressure us in to doing a deal for him, because he can't sign elsewhere for this season.

So the options remain to up a cash only deal for CB, reduce the value of Thorniley in a deal whilst increasing the cash, offer someone else and cash or pull the plug.

Something I totally agree with you on👍🏻

Seems like it took Oxford about 3 hours to reject the bid we made this morning.

It's been 2 hours since we made the improved bid so we should be hearing soon if it was rejected...

The longer it goes without a word being said the better.

You lot are under valuing Thornily and over valuing CB.

I'd rather keep JT than have CB currently. He looked a step ahead on Saturday and just what we need. We have Kevin Stewart coming back. Matty Virtue on his way back too with Kenny Dougall and Connolly playing in recent wins. Don't see the big deal to be honest.

To be honest the sooner we get to 11 o clock the better.
Oxford think they've got the reincarnation of Gazza as their midfielder whilst likening JT as a bit part player at the Dog and Duck.

We'll keep Jordan, you keep Brannagan.
