Transfer record

Currently 1.25 million for DJ Campbell? In comparison Bournemouth’s is 25 million for Jefferson Lerma. Can see it getting broken this summer, particularly if Bowler leaves which feels like a given

Shock home defeat by Blunderland at the weekend now 4 points off the play-offs and played a game more so every chance they’ve blown it.

It doesn't look like Oxford will even get into the play offs, if we still want him he will be our player in the summer for a much reduced price.
Brannagan was absolutely furious when Oxford didn’t let him go. I have it from a very reliable source that he and Oxford now have an agreement that when they don’t go up, they will sell him to us. He’s really keen to come here and is exactly the sort of player we need. We’re definitely splashing the cash this summer and if selling Bowler finances it, I’m quite happy.

I did see he was linked to Wigan recently as well, hopefully we do have a deal in place so we can move quickly when the time comes.

There’s a good chance of the transfer record being broken if the proceeds of sales are reinvested.

Don't think we're gonna get anywhere near it anytime in the near and not quite so near future. Unless we get promoted, which will be the long term plan (to push for it at least), in probably another 3-5 years. And rightly so! No need to splurge when our recruitment process is doing us fairly well at the mo

A lot of our better players are free transfers, so splashing loads of money is not always the answer.
I put on another thread John Swift a proven championship goal scoring midfielder is on a free.
Which makes more sense pay Swift 15k to 20k per week, or Brannagan 8 to 10k plus up to 1 million transfer fee.
The issue would be dressing room unrest but if he delivers, other players would accept it, and any contract can be incentivised.

difficult to replace the likes of Bowler and Keshi on a budget. That’s the task facing the club this summer.

We signed Gabriel for £750k last summer. He was probably our no.1 target for a permanent deal but £750k for a RB (not a position where big money tends to be spent) is a pretty big fee in terms of Blackpool FC. By the sounds of it we were happy to pay the best part of £1 million for Brannagan, a further £250k on Dale and Beesley and we were in for Norburn for £800k and he’s not exactly a young up and coming player with serious sell on value.

That’s £2 million / £3 million the club was happy spending in the space of 6 months.

I think if the right player in the right position becomes available (and I believe Brannagan could be that player) then it wouldn’t shock me at all to see the transfer record met / broken. I also fully expect the club to be comfortable spending money on younger players where there’s a high chance of a significant profit - especially where they can add to the existing squad. Gabriel would recoup at least 2/3 times what we paid for him imo and I’d be gutted to see him go.

I hope we continue taking chances on youngsters in non league though. Carey until his injury looked like a hell of a signing and makes £100k look like an absolute bargain.
