Tunes That Were Ahead of Their Time.....

The first record i can remember as a nipper was Oh Pretty Woman by the big O.
I still think he has had the best voice of a male singer to date.
 
Paul McCartney said when he and Lennon were writing Please Please Me they imagined Roy Orbison singing it as they loved his vocal range and that the song would be perfect for him if he wanted to record it.

You see I do think it's dated. I've always hated it , love NO though. Age of Consent was on 6 the other day and that doesn't sound dated, and had a toe tappin' and a bending the knees like I was almost sixteen again.

I agree it's overplayed, like Love Will Tear Us Apart which I'm really sick of, but still way ahead of it's time.

I can see that too, but I don't think I've ever sorta hated LWTUA like I do Blue Monday, but it doesn't carry the same impact to me that it did. Deffo.

what I find interesting is my kids like some NO and Kraftwerk and Nirvana, so around 10-20 yrs before they were born. But I'd never ever listen to stuff from the 40s or 50s !
