One for the @SLO_BFC please: What's the reason we're all suddenly being searched going into the south? It's happened the last two home games.

I only found out when i got in the ground that my 15 year old was searched too. Are the stewards allowed to pat down under 18s? He wasn't bothered, but it seems a bit over the top to me.

On gate 8 the stewards would only allow females in the queue. They were patting the males down on gate 7. Couple of guys told him not to try touching them, he just moved on to the next one in line.
 
Yep- Happened in the West also, I haven't seen anyone in the West ever throw a flare or anything else for that matter in all the years I've been sat there. I did once see a mobility scooter ride on the pitch but that was when we were a club run by a **** It appears however the current owner or management want to regress to a standard shithousery towards the fans than even the Oystons did ... Knock it on the head with the bottle caps, no external food and now patted down by Preston's finest security company... Fuck Off !! really got my goat this today ..

Edit: To add I told the guy I declined the search and walked through ... Whoever is responsible or issued this instruction at this club needs to be told to stop being being a prick!!
 
Yeh I got it too, remove cap and then searched, so did my 13 Yr old which I thought a bit ott really and was surprised at. This happens at a lot of other grounds and events though so it is what it is.
 
Seems it's happening all over and to all then. Was just surprised as I usually enjoy a nap in the south between 14:45 & 16:45
 
I spoke to @SLO_BFC about this. Apparently there were some youths throwing fireworks around near the ground earlier in the day and they were concerned that people might try to bring them into the ground.
I did voice my concerns that they shouldn't be searching certain demographics. An old geezer with a walking stick, teen-agers with their parents, parents with kids etc.
I refused to let them search me or TinyTractor... But the stadium rules are that they have the right to refuse admission if you refuse a search - but they have to have genuine reason to request one.
If the increased security was due to firework concerns, they could have easily pinned up notices advising fans why. Of course any attempt at communication with the new stewards is almost impossible. They either can't understand or won't listen.

If some terrorist bombed the ground and people hadnt been searched, you would be first to moan,asking why. The club can not win with some people.

No - Can't win on this one with me .. If I had a bag, rucksack or whatever fine, If I was wearing a sucide vest they wouldn't have felt it under my North Face coat anyway .. Stop using the worst case scenario to justify a shit decision ..
 
I have had my backpack searched for years, I open it now on arriving a the gate so they can check. I was asked to remove my hat a few years ago at Peterborough, the female steward asked what I had under my hat and I showed her and told her a lack of hair.

I have no problem with it, as it is done to ensure my safety as well as the safety of others.

No problem with this ... I have with being frisked by Preston's finest without reasonable cause ...
 
Was in the queue to get in the South behind literally hundreds of school kids , all going in block X . fair enough . Get to turnstile, and a female steward says I need to be searched by a male , so need to join an adjoining queue where there is a bloke . Needs better organisation .

No it's not - Even the police need a good reason to search you ..

A police officer has powers to stop and search you if they have ‘reasonable grounds’ to suspect you’re carrying:

  • illegal drugs
  • a weapon
  • stolen property
  • something which could be used to commit a crime, such as a crowbar
You can only be stopped and searched without reasonable grounds if it has been approved by a senior police officer. This can happen if it is suspected that:

  • serious violence could take place
  • you’re carrying a weapon or have used one
  • you’re in a specific location or area

Think your missing my point.
I’m not talking about the politics of it all but as far as I’m concerned the Police can stop and search me anytime they like as I’ve nothing to hide and if one knife was taken off the street as a result of it it’s job done for me.
The people who have issues with it mainly in inner London were the ones who did have something to hide usually a knife and/or drugs that’s why the Met police had special powers for stop and search.
Unfortunately at football grounds today it’s always the case of the odd idiot spoiling it for hundreds of other's.

Understood ... Agree, idiots have spoilt it for the majority but the absurdity of some of these"rules" is ridiculous .. I can't take a 250ml bottle of water in with a cap on but the guy in front can bring a lflask full of hot coffee in. I've sat in the West for years(Barring Boycott) not once have I seen or can I recall anything thrown on the pitch or at someone other than abuse..

They don't they need reasonable suspicion ... Abused by the police on occasion but thats the law .. By buying a ticket I suspect you submit to being searched in the T&C's if requested but to attempt to search everyone is ridiculous. We all know where the crap on the pitch comes from- Concentrate the efforts at that area ..

No sunshine. It's you who needs to stop acting the big man and prick! Otherwise feck off elsewhere on matchday along with all the other halfwits that have caused these searches in the first place.

You're wanting to enter private property, the club could insist you wear a tutu and have a ** dildo up your arse to enter the stadium if they wish, it's their property and you can only enter on their terms! It's not rocket science.

Really poor use of resources by the club. Why would you search people entering in the west and south when in my experience the ‘problem’ appears to be in the north and the visitors in the east. Whoever is in charge of stewarding and security may also need to remind their staff that discretion can be applied during searches. Does the head of security really believe the main supply route for missiles and pyrotechnics into Bloomfield Road is 75 year old men entering the west. I appreciate I only have 50 years attending Blackpool matches but have they ever heard of Intelligence-led security. Come on Blackpool you are better than this. @SLO_BFC please can you have a word with the club to ascertain whether they may wish to review current search strategies and perhaps adopt a more proportionate and targeted response to searches. The club is paying for stewards so make sure they are deployed in the right place, at the right time and against the right target profile.

If I was the owner I'd be sick and tired of paying fines because some absolute tits keep throwing things on the pitch and letting off flares and generally being pricks.
If it saves the club a 25k fine then I'm ok with being frisked.
Its some people, not all, that need to stop being pricks.

Agree…Fix the problem where the problem is tho.. Still doubt they’ll manage to find the Vapes or flares which with an educated guess is what they’re looking for ..
