Unacceptable player commitment last night and how to rectify it…….

…… in my opinion would be to make everyone of them read Foggy’s book so they can gain an understanding of what it took for us as fans to get our club back. Maybe for Saturday’s derby Mr Critchley could put some of the letters us fans received saying we were going to face legal action on the changing room walls and see if that’s enough motivation to give them the kick up the ar5e that’s needed 😡
As you might be able to gather I’m still rather pissed off at that awful, wimp like display in front of a couple of thousand passionate fans who paid good money to get there and support them

You don’t get the best out of a side by questioning their commitment.

This is just over-reactive nonsense….

Pull your big boy pants up lads… We got beat.. take it on the chin… dust yerselves down and we go again Saturday…

We’re in for a rocky few weeks, because of injuries and lack of form, so it’s time for us all to dig deep.

Wait let's hear him out I think he's onto something here

Oh stop it lad, letters on the wall. LOL

Chill man.

I could probably read the whole thing in the dressing room in about what, 6-7 hours? Where's Chissy - get the cameras rolling!
In fairness, we’ve been singing to them all about it for god knows how long, so if they don’t get that “The boycott years were haaaard” by now I doubt they ever will.

That said, it’s a different approach so who knows…

We didn’t just get beat Daz we got embarrassed and then the piss taken out of us by a bunch of clowns who happen to be our local rivals but if you’re happy with that……

That really is a kick in the balls if true!!

Ey lads, never mind about not turning up last night and not giving a toss but as a reward we are off to the Pleasure Beach!!!
Why?

This squad have been absolutely superb all season and now all of a sudden, because our collective ego's have taken a dent, we think it's OK to throw them all under the bus???

A bit of team bonding and get their heads back on it.... We don't need heavy training in any case after a couple of games in quick succession. It's exactly what Ollie did with the Sandcastle day out for the lads...👍

This thread is embarrassing mate... No different to Big Fat Boo Bloke... It makes us look like a bunch of cry babies throwing our toys out the pram.

I'm not happy with the result, but I'm not going to throw the lads under the bus, just cos I'm disappointed and feeling a bit gutted, because Preston can take the piss. We've dealt with far worse than this and come back fighting.... The lads and Critch deserve better

Why not take them for a nice meal and a few bottles of expensive wine as well mate…… they deserve it for the last few weeks hey 🙄
Would personally have made them run home last night and then get them in for extra training today 😉

They haven't done anything wrong though mate, they just came up short on the night. The enforced changes and the side we put out just didn't work. That doesn't deserve 'punishment' or abuse from the supporters. Most of the players we have are already punching well above their weight most weeks and last night we had a make do and mend side.

You would never have intense training after two games in any case... Well not unless you're Graham Westley or that ** idiot who was Assistant Manager to Nigel Worthington (Hennigan?).... So I think doing something to get them back in a positive headspace is a good idea...

These players will be gutted with that result last night.... They've never lacked commitment and determination all season, they have it in barrow loads.... It's always shit getting beat by the Scum, but we can wait till next season to do the double over them👍

What were the results like when Ollie went to the sandcastle? What was the performance like around that time?

Give your head a wobble you complete tool… If anyone posts an opinion on this board that is against your opinion, it’s wrong!!

It’s a no from me. We don’t want them thinking you’re “just a dick head” 😂

I am still fooked off at last night but I’m coming round now to having guaranteed Championship Football next season in early April. Last night was spineless and can’t happen again. Hopefully NC has learnt that and that our fringe players aren’t good enough and the benefits of using the loan system better from the PL.

Over to the recruitment team.

Nobody asks for you to come on here!!

Thought I was your favourite dickhead? 😂😂

"Give your head a wobble you complete tool"... Is there really any need?

I've just posted what I think (like you, but minus the abuse)👎

I agree extra training isn't the answer with the third game in 7 days on the horizon.
Moreover the squad has dug deep and performed heroics to ensure Championship survival in our first season back despite injuries and a squad finding it's collective feet at a higher level.
I thank SS, the Board coaching staff and players for their efforts.
We were favourites for the drop when the campaign began.

However, last night was an embarrassment.
Against an ordinary side, we were second best in all areas, including tactics.
NC and the starting 11 deserve the brickbats coming their way on this occasion.
Looked as though they were already on the beach.
For our Head Coach to suggest we were the better team is an insult to our intelligence.
Not one shot on target, little creativity and yet more evidence that we have players not up to Championship standard.
Last night may not have mattered to them; "Job done, we can take our foot off the gas" is not something I assume NC suggested at 19-30hrs, but we saved one of our most inept performances for the derby.
I asked if I could finish at lunchtime today, as I felt my morning's contribution was sufficient.
Imagine the response.
Lot of work to do in the Summer, or perhaps now, as it's apparent we're done for this term

This is just my opinion but I think we would have played better if we had played when the game was cancelled. Losing Stewart and replacing with Ethan Robson, losing Sterling and Gabriel who looked amazing for the few games that was enforced as Sterling was pushed over onto the left. Husband and Connolly combo is much weaker IMHO also the other problem with the loss of Gabriel (and for me Bowler is not as good without Gabriel driving the ball forward over the hallway line and linking up with him as well as he does) is a major factor in Josh not playing as well as he was.

We are having some dreadful luck with injuries and injuries to the quality we do have in a team that hasn't been assembled with the paid for quality that we see week in week out in this division. It was a tough pill to swallow last night but I also don't think the Grimshaw incident helped much either. With the depth of quality in our squad we really needed the footballing gods to be a little bit kinder on the injury front. Keshi just back from injury isn't quite as in form as he was at Hartlepool and may take a few games. Jerry is really lacking confidence and we threw on Matty Virtue who hasn't played for a year.

I'm annoyed as everyone but I don't think that was us and definitely not our best side that played last night

bfc x3 i’ve read the thread and of course you make valid points but it’s not a case of shrug your shoulders and get on with it, it was absolute garbage and we are entitled to voice our views and concerns (as you are). The knobbers were well up for it last night and we weren’t, simple as that.

👍good post imo - all of it

I'm not suggesting anyone shrugs their shoulders and gets on with it, I just think we need to put the situation into a bit of perspective. Of course the knobbers were up for it, we drilled them 2-0 at our place and they were desperate for revenge.

However... As 'Supporters' we're more than happy to bathe in the glory (when the players deliver the results) and so I think (and it's only my opinion) that we owe them our support, when things don't go for them. To accuse them of lacking commitment, after what we have achieved, on a tiny budget this season, feels a bit out of order to me... And especially so, when we look at the side Critch felt he had to put out.

Fair play if we'd been on a terrible run and we had a bunch of players with bad attitudes, just picking up their salary, but that's not how it;s been at all.

I'll be the first one to acknowledge that there were some under par performances last night, as there were on Saturday against Forest, but that doesn't mean we have the right to question commitment... Question their ability, question the team selection, the substitutions etc.., but commitment???

How much commitment did us lot show to them on Saturday, when we all fucked off when the going got a bit tough for the first time in ages???

Maybe they were taking a leaf out of our book!!

I’ve personally got better things to do with my time when we’re 4-0 down and 3000 Forest fans are jumping around and rubbing our noses in it

Nothing worse than getting a letter from the Os dropping through your door, and the threat of being sued is something pretty horrific.
I can't imagine what Raggy and co went through but God bless em and well done for taking that stance.

Great goal on the counter from the lilyshites. Could have been three if the bar hadn't saved us.

BFC's line-up pre kick off had 'long night' written all over it and Grimshaws injury just compounded things.

The first time I've seen us outmuscled and intimidated since the early season games.

Knobbers Mgr had them wound up good and proper.

I hear you Mosser! - it runs deep with these gimps.

Maybe the Grimshaw incident had an impact who knows .

I’m not making excuses for them but if I’d just seen a pal of mine lying motionless on the ground for an extended period of time with all that medical attention and being stretchered off my mind would have been elsewhere .

We are all human after all,

You could say well they should have done everything to win it for him but I don’t think it’s that easy

He’d suffered what looked like a serious head injury and they wouldn’t have known whether he was going to be ok

Just a different view to perhaps explain the below par performance against an average Preston side that’s all .

Whilst after a stinker it might not seem a 'reward' is he right thing.

However the players know they massively underperformed, they looked gutted.

They have done us proud overall this season, that has earned some credit. The effort was there just absolutely no quality, it happens, terrible timing but it happened.

It was a let down but despite how poor we were we only narrowly lost.

We have another lesser derby coming up and sometimes you need something for confidence. If getting their confidence up gets more out of them than the same old training drills then great.

They absolutely should be training corners etc, I imagine they do each session, but much like anything its replicating in the live game and some at times just aren't good enough at it.

The optics don't look particularly great admittedly but lets cut them a bit of slack. We've beat nobbers and rovers at home, claimed many scalps people didn't expect. They have achieved the goal and always try hard even if at times lacking in quality.

Agree this is one of the factors that has been overlooked, first ten minutes I thought it looked like it was going to potentially be an almost end to end game. Definitely think the incident took the wind out of our sails. Been in this scenario myself on the football pitch when a mate gets hurt and it does take the fire out of your belly somewhat.

Glad Grimmy is ok, hopefully no harm done.

If it wasn’t for the bar we would have lost 3-0. We created nothing, had no shots on target and didn’t even get a booking…… in my opinion a day on the Pleasure Beach is not how yesterday should have been spent 👎
