Unlikeliest place you’ve met someone in a BFC shirt

Went out for a birthday meal in Alderley Edge last night (poncey Cheshire Man Utd and Citeh footballer land for those that don’t know it) and it made my evening to bump into a 15/16 year old lad with a Pool shirt on. What’s the unlikeliest place you’ve met someone who was wearing s Pool shirt?

It's not a full size shirt but me and my dad were on our way to the Whirlpool of Corryvreckan when we passed a parked car with a Pool (inenco era) mini kit in the back window.

It's got to be one of the most isolated spots I've ever been and there it was. A tangerine beacon in the bleakness.

Not unlikely but very strange - we’d played wet spam in the premier league and we were visiting the sister in laws in Thurrock. We all head to the lakeside shopping mall thingy for a meal in the evening and as I’m walking past the outside restaurant area there’s a lad sitting there with a ‘pool shirt and baseball cap on. Having had a few scoops I thought I’d share the tangerine love and go over “we were unlucky today mate should’ve won that” says I. The kid looked at me and said “sorry?” With a very perplexed look. “I’m a Blackpool fan” pointing at his shirt “oh” says he “I don’t support them, I just like the colour.” Noticing the serial killer look in his eyes I then backed very slowly away as my mrs walked away in fits of laughter at my expense.

Not met, but I was sent to South Sudan in 2016 my flight back home was from Naibrobi in Kenya, which was a bit of a mission to get to from South Sudan. Part of the way was a 4x4 through Uganda to catch a train to Nairobi. After 4 or 5 hours I wasn’t sure what country I was in but stopping in one town in Uganda I think, I saw a group of kids playing football, to my amazement one of them had a really scruffy and dirty tangerine shirt on with Cabrini on the front. Shocked to say the least.

Was that 2010 top? Always regret not speaking to the kids to ask them where it had come from. Just guessed it was from one of donations they received and someone had thrown it out years before.

Not the weirdest ,but seemed to be every year I went abroad (mostly to canaries & Spain) for over 20 years ,I would see someone with pool shirt on (sometimes at the airport or on plane)as well we are everywhere so are our shirts in bars all over Europe ,funny though never see a Preston supporter or shirt 😀🤔.

At Leeds festival when we hammered Ipswich during the golden years, I was coming back from a very steamy afternoon whazz when I heard on a nearby radio ‘AND THAT’S FIVE FOR BLACKPOOL’, ran over wearing my pool shirt to a full camp of pool shirts all going nuts! Was a lovely moment

On the beach in Antigua next sunbed to us, not a footy shirt but a bfc tattoo on his leg 👍. Half an hour later the news Larry had been potted and we were clinking drinks bottles together 😂😂

On holiday in new caledonia ,went on a trip to a remote island called Amadee ,and went up a lighthouse built by napolean .
Got to the top and there was a couple with pool tops on who were living in Sydney but came from Bispham.

In the away end at BR v Burnley; my dad just looked for the turnstile that seemed to going the quickest. An interesting 2 hours...

Walking in Sydney Harbour saw a lad in a Wonga top. He was a student studying 12 months out there.

Barbados Watching England play the West Indies last year, sat a couple of seats along from me.

Shopping mall on iDrive Orlando. It was a 'U' shaped mall full of tat, however we went to the end and walked in the right hand door to see a family of 4, the 2 kids in Pool shirts. Big obvs. but I couldn't help compliment the parents on their dress sense for the kids. The dad told me Karl Oyston had just gone out the right hand door a minute earlier.

Now that was a lucky escape*

*This was in the days when he was sucked up to by a, err, number of AVFTTers, but not by me.

With my grandson flying his Drone in Lake Hollywood Park LA near the Hollywood sign met a Squaddie in a away top made my day had a selfie to show my mates.

Old Trafford football ground (and no Blackpool weren't playing that day). Was an early season game and so everyone was in their football shirts and I literally did a double take as there was a lad in a Blackpool shirt. I was stewarding that day and shook his hand. Love to know if he reads this board and never did find out why he was wearing it or why he was there!

Bondi Beach, met the NZ contingent of Pool fans. There were 4 of us in tops and I think 3 of them. It looked like Barnet Away game.

Sao Paulo airport in Brazil during the world cup. We were asking directions from a young local lad and he asked us who we supported. I said Blackpool and he looked a bit puzzled. I said we are bigger than Man Utd, he looked skeptical and then a lad walked past in a Pool shirt . I said see, we are everywhere!

10 minutes later we walked into Value4money who is often on here.

Hotel Melia Sol on Bali - long story but was working in Jakarta around the time of the anti Suharto riots - the Foreign Office pulled us out quick when it all kicked off and middle of the night we were put on a plane to god knows where. We arrived at a very nice resort hotel came down to brekkie a bit disorientated the next morning and across the dining room was a bloke wearing a white Seasiders polo shirt and no it wasn't an Osytain.

We emigrated to NZ in the 90's and within a day of arriving in Mount Maunganui a lad with a Pool shirt on walked past us on the beach..

It made me feel like I'd found my home.
