I naively thought that no landlord with any common sense would entertain it, but then I see that the vaccine passports entry system might mean they can ditch social distancing rules.Business
Business is business.

Homophobe.Maybe we could call it “Poop for a Puff”
It helped if one of your old classmates was on the door! The Adam & Eve would have loved this idea.
They never ran out of ideas as to why we couldn't gain entry in the late 70's.
Yep, well, we’ll, well. Well it’s because large numbers of those who go to night clubs haven’t/won’t have the jab, and of course that environment is great news for the virus.Well, well, well
Couple of points here.Yep, well, we’ll, well. Well it’s because large numbers of those who go to night clubs haven’t/won’t have the jab, and of course that environment is great news for the virus.
It is totally for public health reasons.Couple of points here.
That age group are at minimal risk.. about 0.04%.
But crucially, if you can be double jabbed & still catch the virus and spread it, what is the point of a vaccine passport? Because it’s not for any health reasons is it.
That’s nonsense. It is totally for public health reasons.
Yes you can still spread the virus after being vaccinated but the chances of you spreading the virus are much, much lower than if you hadn't been vaccinated. Just like the chances of you being hospitalised are much, much lower after vaccination.
It is a public health measure designed to protect our NHS capacity which in turn protects the health of the population as a whole.
Many who visit the pub have to show proof of age, the app has that detail on so rather than show a driving licence etc they just show the app.I’m puzzled when some people say “if it means us getting back to normality then I don’t mind”.
What is normal about showing a passport/certificate to show your health status to go the pub?
The government are incompetent, particularly when it comes to public messaging as we have seen time and time again during the pandemic. That’s nonsense.
If it’s for public health, why are nightclubs now open till September? With no restrictions? Yet two months later you will need a passport to get in? It won’t just be nightclubs either.
The option of testing someone to show they are negative, them already having had the virus and natural immunity or not actually having anything wrong with them will not suffice, but a passport where they can actually have the virus despite being double jabbed as the Health Secretary has shown will be ok to gain entry? A negative test and already having had the virus are far safer in the interests of public health than a passport saying you’ve had two jabs.
I get people have particular political stances, but a vaccine passport is not about health.
It has to be a PR/Marketing drive to get the young vaccinated because there’s no other health reason.
That’s not the latest information. The government are incompetent, particularly when it comes to public messaging as we have seen time and time again during the pandemic.
I have no idea about the timing of this measure, presumably they will have a justification for it. From my limited understanding of things it would have been better if it had started yesterday, but they are bound to have more information than I have and I am not arrogant enough to just assume that I know better.
My understanding of the 'vaccine passport' is that it can show any of the three things you mention above, i.e. a recent negative test, recent covid infection or vaccination status. Information from the government is here and that says exactly the same thing;

Please stop posting misinformation about this pass on the internet.
It is in everybody's interest that the rules are adhered to. If you really want the restrictions to be fully lifted then you could consider supporting measures to encourage young people to get vaccinated.
Of course the response is about public health.
The whole response to the pandemic is about public health.
Fair enough, that is my mistake, I didn't see last night's news conference, my apologies. That’s not the latest information.
"Proof of a negative test will no longer be enough"... that was the Government’s statements yesterday.
Please can you stop spreading misinformation on the internet.
That's why they're saying September. Everyone would have had the chance to have two jabs by then. If you don't, it's your responsibility and also you to deal with the consequences.I just don’t see how this could be approved.
How can someone of a certain younger age be refused access to something when they haven’t even been offered the vaccine yet? I get the argument is a negative test result but you can show a negative result from a test a day ago and by that time be positive.
As Adams Kebab eludes too, we have to live ourselves and I personally will be having the jab when offered but respect those that don’t want it know the potential risks by socialising but shouldn’t be discriminated against for not having it, having the vaccine isn’t a legal entity is it.
I just don’t see this idea working. How would the young people say the 18-21’s react too this, they are missing out on the party years as it is and then are told they can’t go to the pub but the older generation who they have effectively been protecting by being in lockdown (alongside themselves of course but obviously the vulnerable are more at risk) can? I appreciate there is more to life then getting pissed but this is what a lot of young people like to do and socialise and it’s good for mental health to get out and about. Let’s face it, most of us did the same when we were 18 and care free but I just don’t feel until EVERYONE has been offered the jab that they can even put this on the table. Then there is the second discussion of those who don’t want it should they really be not allowed to the pub, surely they have some human rights?
It's the prelude to compulsory digital IDwhat is the point of a vaccine passport?

Just following the thread. Apologies. Still relevant now though. Why are you quoting my post from March 25th? Goal posts have clearly changed since then.
