I'm just watching them now - they really are very impressive, aren't they? Measured, authoritative, and refuse to speculate about what they don't know.
 
Yes they do sound impressive, reassuring and measured.
My wife and I were just comparing them with the senior civil servant who used to do the press briefings and announcements in the Falklands War. He came across like the Grim Reaper
 
Whitty gave an articulate and self-assured speech last weekend about herd immunity which most experts and non-experts thought was a load of bollox and which the government quickly changed it's mind about. I'm not so sure about him now. Vallance does seem impressive. Him saying 20,000 UK deaths would be a decent result is a bit scary though.
 
My missus has worked with Whitty before and works in a team that has a lot of dealings with Vallance now. She says that they are very impressive and working flat-out under an amazing amount of pressure.

And 20,000 deaths would be an amazing result. 1% of the UK population is around 650,000 people.
 
Yes they are-they do reassure me with their honest and concise answers. Boris has also impressed me (voted labour and lib dem in the past) - what he doesn't know he refers to the experts that are flanking him - again he's telling us as it is.

They are seemingly doing their bit using the correct scientific data and are both very composed. Two highly impressive individuals.

Completely right for Boris to lean on their advice.

Everyone needs to listen to what they say as failure to follow the models will have consequences for life.
 
I trust them more than all the experts on Twitter, but you can see that Vallance in particular is starting to get exasperated that people are wilfully ignoring the guidance.

Boris just passes the buck when he hasn't got an answer to something he should be able to answer, which is most things actually I'd like to see anything he has answered which has any coherence. The man is a bumbling idiot and this crisis has found him out as the idiot he is

I'm glad he passes the buck he's not medically trained leave it to the experts politician's from all parties should learn from this crisis and take note they don't know what is best only think.

Rubbish, Boris has somewhat surprisingly stepped up and I have been impressed by him, he passes technical/scientific questions over to the experts who are there to answer such questions.

Correct people can't help themselves they are falling over each other to knock the current gov which is quite sickening in the current situation and the o/p is about Vallance and Whitty anyway.

God knows I've no time for Boris, but he knows his limits and defers to the experts, unlike the orange egomaniac on the other side of the pond. Every time he speaks he confuses matters and makes things worse.
 
I don't rate Boris, never did. A fool. A joker. Reckless. Little empathy. No authority.

However, he's got a thankless task now. Gonna need balls of steel to get through this.
 
I am not sure any government has got a handle on this so leave it to the boffins.

One thing I am sure of can you imagine the total and complete shambles and monkey shit fight that this would have developed into Corbyn had got elected.

Heres a little test...without googling it who is Labour's Acting Shadow Health Spokesperson.

Then google him and check out his CV - you'll be shocked. No wonder no news channel out is there even remotely interested about what Labour think about all of this.

Irrelevant. Thought it was the lefties making political capital out of a crisis? Where's the point in hypothesising what Jezza might and might not have done?

I'd be seriously worried if Boris didn't the buck to the scientists. He's a politician not a medic.
