Villa youngster

6ft 4" England U18 international, from Poulton and came through the ranks at the Cod's. An 18 year old central defender sounds a bit risky to me in a team aiming for promotion but if we're playing a back 3 he would have extra support/cover. May have a bit of inside info on this one 😉

Critch will know him from his short spell at Villa, we had Williams last season, is he better than him?

We have 4 or 6 Cb's already if you accept Connolly and Hubbie can both play there.
Strikers are needed
Agreed, it's not an obvious priority, and we only have one space left in the 22, but maybe if Critch wants to play a 3 then he might want someone in as first choice, and if he doesn't consider Casey/Tharme up to the job then maybe he'll move one of those on.

I'm tending towards Nixon speculation on this one.

Don't think under 21 loans take a squad place this year.

Correct

Maybe more dev squad at that age?

Seems a low priority position for us?

However if he’s an absolute talent that cannot be missed, then he is always worth signing on loan and will put pressure on the other players.

Critch doesn’t seem to fancy Casey

I still think we need another striker more than anything, but at least this lad won't be taking it a squad place and it's always good to have back ups especially with our injury record.

I know the family and I believe Josh would jump at the chance. I honestly thought it was more likely to be in a years time.
Same I used to help his dad Charlie at Poulton, Josh was a good player and always had that hunger, even at 11/12 he used to get annoyed when the team lost or he played poorly, great to see how he has developed since I last coached him, would be an honour to see him in a Blackpool shirt

If I was Sadler I would be wanting to increase the value of Casey, Tharme and lyons etc. The only way to do that is give them game time alongside an experienced CH and see if they are good enough.
So signing a loan from Villa would be strange unless we have decided Tharme, Casey, Husband or Marv are moving on.

Hubby is not, and never will be a centre back. But he will do his very best when playing centre back. That's what he does.
One of our mantras MUST be Round Pegs in Round Holes.
Would you play Harry Kane at right back? No. But again, he'd do his best.
On the left of a back three, I think he'd work just fine, at least in this division.

If you're good enough , you're old enough.

Local lad , and extremely highly rated at Villa by all accounts.

Didn't they buy him for a decent fee from the cods at 15/16 ?

Yes a know but I’m simply saying we are still 2/3 players short of more experienced players IMO.
There's one space left in the 22, beyond that any incomings will have to be matched by departures, and those departures would likely be the more experienced players.

Edit:

In fact, we don't have any spaces left now, I thought Joseph qualified as U21, but he doesn't.

Virtue looks like he's going and it wouldn't surprise me if Tharme or Casey goes out on loan as well.
