Villa youngster

Husband was excellent at centre back in the promotion season, he was preferred to Thorniley.

We haven’t seen much of him as the left in a three, I think he could make that role his.

Good player Husband, gets some unnecessary stick IMO.
Sorry, but he was culpable for far too many goals last season, when he wasn't out injured. He's also three years older than the last time we were starting at this level.

Sorry, but I think he'll do well. Please don't mention last season I feel like I have PTSD.

AS much as I like Husband, he's been a great servant but he aint going to play 46 games at left C/B this season, we need some insurance/cover from someone who can play that position ?

I think a lot are forgetting we are going to have some outs, it is probably the case that NC does not fancy either Thame, Casey or both and has had a look pre season and made his decision, same with midfield. If Pennington and Marv get injured would everyone be happy with the afore mentioned CBs, Husband for me is a LB. We need another experienced CB. Off course the kid from Villa is not coming to be in our dvt squad, only way that happens is if we buy him.

Big Marv was all over the place last season. Lets see how people do now normality has been restored.

I'm not sure we should be bringing in 18 year old loans unless they go into the team and he'd be displacing Marv or Pennington surely if he's a right footer. Which seems unlikely. Critch may not fancy Casey but he frickin signed him. Is Critch a reliable judge of players? Or better sticking to coaching? 🤔

18 is a crazy young age for this league, especially for a CB, Ballard was 20 when we brought him in during our last promotion season in League 1.

If he is brought in then it must be because he is much better than Tharme or Casey.

Not sure about this, but I trust Critch’s judgement though.

Th, it's a modern way of saying I'm in error.

For those of us who don't rap with the kids
Thanks CGP - I think I can proudly say that I’m not down with the kids. Why invent a new meaningless phrase when there’s other words and phrases already?

…. I’m sure I’m morphing into Victor Meldrew.

I would say the main plus point is his age. He can be in the squad and yet he wont be taking up any of the spaces. You are then able to free up a squad place by releasing older players , Tharme, Casey, Husband. As we found out last year injuries in a small squad can badly impair your season.

I think there is an argument for using the loan system in this division to bolster the squad numbers with three or four players that won’t count in the 22 as long as they are better than your own development players. It is a long season after all.

I think the Championship squad size system is too restrictive. We spent a lot of good money last season travelling and buying tickets for games that we couldn’t even put out a proper team and bench for🙄.

Generally agree with you but I could imagine with Connolly ahead of him that that side of the defence would be solid.
I would actually prefer to give Casey the LCB role though
