Now that Matty Virtue is probably going to be playing for us for the forthcoming season, and he knows NC well, do you think he will be made captain or not ??
No and id rather he didnt play tbhNow that Matty Virtue is probably going to be playing for us for the forthcoming season, and he knows NC well, do you think he will be made captain or not ??
Marv was hopeless previously.Captain??? He's not even close pal, I'd imagine it would be Marv.
Started turning up again when he was dropped as captainMarv was hopeless previously.
more like Der KaiserGot to be Tommy T if he’s fit.
A decent pre season and he could be the midfield general we need.
The Kaiser Chiefmore like Der Kaiser
He’s only ever managed 30+ games in one season and that was 2018. He seems to average about 18 appearances a season, discounting that he’s just coming back from injury. He’s not going to play regularly. We need a regular captain.Got to be Tommy T if he’s fit.

Is this Matty Virtue you are talking about? Big asset? How we have fallen…Captain doesn’t mean best player. It means the player the manager trusts to set examples, train hard and believe in their vision. Virtue must be our longest serving player at this point. He knows the squad, knows League 1 inside out and knows the coaching team really well. He’s not a bad player and if he’s over his injury troubles will be a big asset. We’d have done a lot better last season with a fit Matty Virtue in midfield throughout that’s for sure.
Yes. Weird how relegation means you tend to have a lesser pick of players than you would in the Championship. I’m struggling to get my head around it tooIs this Matty Virtue you are talking about? Big asset? How we have fallen…
I don’t really like being negative towards any of our players but Virtue is nowhere near Championship level and in the few appearances he made in the championship he looked out of his depth against better quality players who were 5 steps ahead of him football wise hence why he was shipped out.he’ll be more at home in League 1 but it’ll be a big worry to me if he’s in the starting 11 come the first game. We’d have done a lot better last season with a fit Matty Virtue in midfield throughout that’s for sure.
Virtue splits opinion.I don’t really like being negative towards any of our players but Virtue is nowhere near Championship level and in the few appearances he made in the championship he looked out of his depth against better quality players who were 5 steps ahead of him football wise hence why he was shipped out.he’ll be more at home in League 1 but it’ll be a big worry to me if he’s in the starting 11 come the first game.
Poor man's Jordan Henderson.Captain doesn’t mean best player. It means the player the manager trusts to set examples, train hard and believe in their vision. He even splits my own opinion. The big plus is his ability to shoot on target.Virtue splits opinion.
He is our longest serving player but has hardly played for us for 2 years due to injury and loans.
That said is still only 25 and will have benefitted from his time at Lincoln.
Scores goals from midfield, and deserves another chance rather than constantly being written off.
Don't mention his name on here! At least Matty doesn't back pass!Poor man's Jordan Henderson.
I understand what you are saying, but if the club said they were buying a, 25year old midfielder who scored 3 goals last season in L1 in what for him would have been a disjointed season, and was a fan favourite we would generally be happy with thatHe even splits my own opinion. The big plus is his ability to shoot on target.
I wouldn't sign him abd would be hoping for better but he's probably worth another look in pre-season and in the run up to transfer deadline day and finalising the squad.I understand what you are saying, but if the club said they were buying a, 25year old midfielder who scored 3 goals last season in L1 in what for him would have been a disjointed season, and was a fan favourite we would generally be happy with that
Shooting on target was a definite problem last season. So, as you also say above, he is worth a another look and costs us little. He even splits my own opinion. The big plus is his ability to shoot on target.
But Critch gave him that extension as a Championship player, so think he rates him higher than than many fansI think he’ll get sent out on loan again - ludicrous last time to have given him such a long contract!
I would rather keep him than Dougall. But Critch gave him that extension as a Championship player, so think he rates him higher than than many fans
He's kind of the forgotten man for me to the point that I don't think we'll see him in tangerine again.I would rather keep him than Dougall.
We do underrate him, he is not a top player but could be a consistent squad playerThis was a quote from the Imps manager about Virtue back in January and clearly why coaches like him.
Matthew Virtue Thick Injury Update: MK confirmed the suspected bad news about the injury to the valued midfielder. MVT has torn his hamstring and will be out for a sustained period. MK reflected on the character of the player and how he will be missed. It’s a huge shame for MVT personally and the Imps generally. He has played every available minute, commensurate with his 100% attitude to training and matches. Whilst bitterly disappointed, MK is looking forward to having MVT back and knows with his attitude and levels of fitness the player will give himself every chance. MVT impact has been marked, be it on the pitch, training ground or in the dressing room – he is the ultimate pro.
Wrong position on the field for captain.Noone fancy jezza as captain?
Harry Kane..?Wrong position on the field for captain.
Yes I know. OK, I'll clarify....I don't think that a striker makes a good Captain. Neither does a goalie, regardless of Peter Shilton.Harry Kane..?
Luckily we're not in the ChampionshipI don’t really like being negative towards any of our players but Virtue is nowhere near Championship level and in the few appearances he made in the championship he looked out of his depth against better quality players who were 5 steps ahead of him football wise hence why he was shipped out.he’ll be more at home in League 1 but it’ll be a big worry to me if he’s in the starting 11 come the first game.
I was making a point Virtue wouldn’t of made a difference in the championshipLuckily we're not in the Championship
