Was Ryan Hardie the answer?

Bigger boob than Bishop?

Ryan Hardie has been one of the standout strikers in the Championship this season, with the Scot finding the net 13 times in his first season in the second tier.

The Plymouth Argyle frontman has been a revelation since joining the club - initially on loan - in January 2020, with over 60 goals in all competitions for the Greens, and is set to make his 200th appearance for the club this weekend against Preston North End.

His time at the club has seen a meteoric rise from League Two to the Championship, with a number of vital strikes along the way to play his part in the journey.

Watching the striker play a key part in a club rising up the leagues must wrangle with Blackpool fans, who let the marksman leave for peanuts after forking out a transfer fee for him 18 months before.

He was never really given a chance when he was here … we replaced him with Yates who was a different type of player that suited Critchley’s style of play better … you could argue that Yates was a great success with us … so in that sense we didn’t really mess up by letting him go.
Yates scoring record from when he signed with us until now is 33% goal ratio … Hardie is 31% over the same period

Well he would have been useful to keep, called it at the time you could see how he was a finisher and very nippy, if not a bit lightweight, but in this day and ages players can't really touch you that much.

Never given a fair chance to score those goals.

No we didn’t, Yates took his spot, fired us up to the Championship and was then sold for £4m.

Everything is easier to judge in hindsight and players don’t develop in a vacuum so whose to say he’d be that good if we kept him.

I always thought he looked too lightweight. Glad he's done well at Argyle. How is Callum Wright getting on down there? That was strange business by us

He simply wasn't good enough for us AT THAT TIME. Our growth back then was ahead of his own personal progress so he wasn't ready for us which is why he went down to League Two. His growth then matched Plymouth's own growth. If Plymouth go backwards and Hardie doesn't, he'll leave them too.

Whilst I agree with what you say. End of thread ?

Are you running AVTT now or sommat ?
Not as far as I know… It’s just what everyone seems to put these days, so I thought I’d give it a go. 👍😂

I’d actually forgotten all about Ryan Hardie until this unfortunate thread. How many years do you think will pass before we all get over Ryan ? (He was obviously such a Blackpool Legend, I suppose it could take a couple of decades)

He played in a few of the fringe matches cup games etc and instead of trying him alongside Yates, Madine and Lavery he usually played alongside Nuttall. Enough said!

Rotherham probably say the same about Yates with us. some players are just a fit for certain clubs and styles of play.

For me it took about as long as it did Callum Wright.

2 secs.

I fully expect to be reading an article like this about Andy Lyons in the not to distant future
Yep when someone has come in and bought the lad for a decent fee.

You've got to love the Avftt Andy Lyon's myth that's peddled on here when the opposite is true.

Start's first three games of the season at LWB a position he'd played most of a season in Ireland.
Sadly loses his Dad(also his agent) then brought back slowly in BSM/Cup games and is poor.
Apart from one league game been bang average then starts to get game time recently and get's injured.

The lad was nailed on under Critch to be in our LWB all season until tragedy struck, how long it took to get his head right is anyone's guess, but it's all the clubs/head coach fault.

I think we may have to get used to the idea that sometimes players who don’t make it with us, will go on and be successful elsewhere.

That’s Football - It Happens - End of Thread
Not quite the end of the thread but your editorial point of view has been duly noted and errm largely dismissed

We'll never know but to say he got a chance here is laughable, he barely played at all so it really is unfair to judge him on that.

Was Ryan Hardie the answer?
Depends what the question was!
We have a 'type' of player at Blackpool who don't seem to succeed - Owen Dale was another.
