How long is Jerry Yates going to be defended for. He's never shown any glimpse of doing it at this level. Can't remember any myself, penalty miss aside, but Sky Sports have reported we had 1 clear cut chance in the entire game.
Is that the strikers fault?
Was a big game for Yates playing as the number 9 and failed miserably again. Excuses will be made for him yet again no doubt. How long is Jerry Yates going to be defended for. He's never shown any glimpse of doing it at this level.
I'm not defending anyone. I'm asking how many chances are they being given? How long is Jerry Yates going to be defended for. He's never shown any glimpse of doing it at this level.

Realistically, we're either gonna be stuck with who we have up front already, or will bring in another kid from the PL on loan. We need to be making the most of what we have. At this moment in time, we're not remotely doing anything of the sort.
I agree, and on one occasion (one!) Yates would have had a decent chance at a goal if Bowler had played it to him when he should have done.Good players create chances or get into positions where they score. I know our only other option is Madine who can't run. Hopefully Beesley gets a sniff.
Lavery gotta be our new LW for now. He was explosive that first 15.
Yates would have missed it. Hate to see Bowler get slagged. He's our only goal threat, if he goes we're totally fucked.I agree, and on one occasion (one!) Yates would have had a decent chance at a goal if Bowler had played it to him when he should have done.
I mean, he'd have probably missed it, but.....
The players aren't good enough at this level whatever system you put them in.Said from the off none of our forwards fit the system so you either change the 4-3-3 or get someone in who can.
I'm not slagging him off, he's head and shoulders above any other player we have. But he should have passed it.Yates would have missed it. Hate to see Bowler get slagged. He's our only goal threat, if he goes we're totally fucked.
I think he tried but was swarmed by players.I'm not slagging him off, he's head and shoulders above any other player we have. But he should have passed it.
Deffo, Theo was playing behind Thompson. BizarreI thought Yates and Lavery were much better than Yates and Theo...Lavery looked much much improved
The same players basically as last season and some thought Critch was shite he must be a miracle worker. The players aren't good enough at this level whatever system you put them in.
Not appletons fault.
Same as last season so it's down to the manager to get them playing above themselves. I think MA sounds too dour to motivate the players. Hope I'm wrong of course. The players aren't good enough at this level whatever system you put them in.

We were very lucky to have CritchThe same players basically as last season and some thought Critch was shite he must be a miracle worker.
Apart from Madine having a bit of a goal run they were shit last season too.Same as last season so it's down to the manager to get them playing above themselves. I think MA sounds too dour to motivate the players. Hope I'm wrong of course.
What are you talking about? Yates has proved time and time again he doesn't do it at this level.Jerry Yates was outstanding today and was a potential MOM candidate, despite the Penalty miss. For me the issues we currently have stem from a lack of composure on the ball at the back and Ekpiteta in particular. It just knocks the whole composure of the side out of kilter and leaves us constantly battling against pressure which is largely of our own making.
Whatever...What are you talking about? Yates has proved time and time again he doesn't do it at this level.
I get he's a cult hero from banging them in at L1 but open your eyes man.
1 goal in 3 games...
I’ve said sine the middle of last season JR is simply not good enough for this level. Workrate and effort most definitely but the ability to be a championship striker is a no. His hold up play is poor, he can never get the ball out of his feet, he gets pushed of the ball way to easily and to me he never looks like he will score. He is an outstanding lg1 striker but nowhere near good enough for the Championship and we need an upgrade. Was a big game for Yates playing as the number 9 and failed miserably again. BFC can you tell me the last time our number 9 scored at home?Whatever...
Nail on the head, no ill will towards Jerry but he's not ever been up to it at this level.I’ve said sine the middle of last season JR is simply not good enough for this level. It’s a pointless discussion….BFC can you tell me the last time our number 9 scored at home?
Always said the one position we hadn't filled was the striker. Should have got Simms on board at the end of last season, never mind waiting until weeks in to the close season, and pushed the boat out to get him. Guess who scored again for Sunderland yesterday?I'm not defending anyone. I'm asking how many chances are they being given?
