We have league 1 strikers.

Can't remember any myself, penalty miss aside, but Sky Sports have reported we had 1 clear cut chance in the entire game.

Is that the strikers fault?

How long is Jerry Yates going to be defended for. He's never shown any glimpse of doing it at this level.
I'm not defending anyone. I'm asking how many chances are they being given?

Realistically, we're either gonna be stuck with who we have up front already, or will bring in another kid from the PL on loan. We need to be making the most of what we have. At this moment in time, we're not remotely doing anything of the sort.

Said from the off none of our forwards fit the system so you either change the 4-3-3 or get someone in who can.

Good players create chances or get into positions where they score. I know our only other option is Madine who can't run. Hopefully Beesley gets a sniff.

Lavery gotta be our new LW for now. He was explosive that first 15.

I agree, and on one occasion (one!) Yates would have had a decent chance at a goal if Bowler had played it to him when he should have done.

I mean, he'd have probably missed it, but.....

The players aren't good enough at this level whatever system you put them in.

Not appletons fault.
Same as last season so it's down to the manager to get them playing above themselves. I think MA sounds too dour to motivate the players. Hope I'm wrong of course.

Zobo are you sure you are not a Nobber?

Yates got into plenty of positions to receive the ball in space.

He also never stopped running in that heat and getting back deep to help the midfield.

Apart from Madine having a bit of a goal run they were shit last season too.

Quality in the final third has been a problem since we got in this league.

I thought Yates did OK today, especially when Lavery came on. They both pressurised their defenders into errors. Bowler on the other hand was shite. He had to pass to Yates but he saw the headlines for himself. He's not worth anything in this form so I can see him going for nothing next year.

Jerry Yates was outstanding today and was a potential MOM candidate, despite the Penalty miss. For me the issues we currently have stem from a lack of composure on the ball at the back and Ekpiteta in particular. It just knocks the whole composure of the side out of kilter and leaves us constantly battling against pressure which is largely of our own making.

What are you talking about? Yates has proved time and time again he doesn't do it at this level.

I get he's a cult hero from banging them in at L1 but open your eyes man.

1 goal in 3 games...

Maybe L1 is the preferred option….. running a championship side is expensive!
Deep pockets needed and maybe we haven’t got them.

Just a thought, probably miles off, but makes you wonder.

Swansea were simply miles better on the ball than we were. Fact is we are terrible in possession. We struggle to control a ball and look up to find a man in space. That's often because there isn't one. Swansea got hold of the ball and kept hold of it. We couldn't do that. Why? Our players simply aren'y comfortable enough at this level.

Was a big game for Yates playing as the number 9 and failed miserably again. Excuses will be made for him yet again no doubt.
I’ve said sine the middle of last season JR is simply not good enough for this level. Workrate and effort most definitely but the ability to be a championship striker is a no. His hold up play is poor, he can never get the ball out of his feet, he gets pushed of the ball way to easily and to me he never looks like he will score. He is an outstanding lg1 striker but nowhere near good enough for the Championship and we need an upgrade.

Nail on the head, no ill will towards Jerry but he's not ever been up to it at this level.

He got away with it last season as he never played so everyone thought he was the answer.

Always said the one position we hadn't filled was the striker. Should have got Simms on board at the end of last season, never mind waiting until weeks in to the close season, and pushed the boat out to get him. Guess who scored again for Sunderland yesterday?

Colby Bishop scored another two yesterday, didn't we say he was injured or something? Doesn't look very injured to me. We desperately need a new striker and beesley to come back as we are going to struggle to score with the current ones we have
