"We live near Blackpool FC stadium - now we're being made homeless right before Christmas".

🙄

They've had plenty of notice, since before last Christmas I think, and still have time.

There's plenty of other houses like that available and they will be compensated or for those who rent, this happens and you have to deal with it, you don't run off to a newspaper crying.

Seems like some typical moaning and acting like victims. All the proper processes seems to have been followed.

Maybe if some acted to get somewhere new rather that doing nothing and moaning they'll be homeless, they might get somewhere?

I agree with the above they’ve had around 18 months notice and had plenty of time to find a different property. Especially those that rent properties on Henry st. Maybe instead of whinging to a newspaper they read the gazette property pages and find alternative accommodation. I feel for the owners as that’s probably been their homes for years but times change and regeneration IS needed in the revoe area and will only be a good thing upon completion.

Story overblown to sell papers. As people have said, it’s not like a letter dropped through the door yesterday saying they would be out of the house by Christmas. The garage owner has had time to find another premises and wants to go, so that tells you how much time they’ve had to get sorted.
I’m actually excited by this article as we’re a step closer to having a proper East stand that should be there for generations to come 👍

This has to be an attempt to get more cash, surely!

My brother and I rented an apartment on Queensway in PLF back in 2018. We kept it immaculate and looked after our neighbours. We received an eviction notice as the current owner wanted to sell. It was disappointing, not only for us, but we had eight weeks to find somewhere else. We looked, we found, we moved! I didn’t feel the need to run to the media as frustrating as it was.

Get a grip people, if you rent, this happens. If you own, surely you’re getting more than your house is worth and can find a nice little number close by.

Take down the posters (so 1990’s), keep the blu tac and move to a nicer location. This street is disgusting to walk down and needs flattening to improve the area.

It'll be the same with the multiversity, the council got about 30% of the properties, but will have to use compulsory purchase powers for the rest.

Seems people who don't want to go just do nowt and hope it'll go away, then moan.

Not sure how much those houses or flats cost to rent, but there are others available and given it's not the best area already, not a lot to lose in going for many different areas. It's not a good time for anyone with inflation but you have to deal with thr circumstances you're in.

It’s laughable really Theyv had years notice in reality .I wonder if residents in town will be running to the press when the university comes to town ? NO TO BETTER EDUCATION !!!
That already happened, some were in the paper saying they got derisory offers.

Tbf the houses on Charles Street are quite a lot bigger than Henry street.

There's always going to be people upset when they have to move but things need to progress and these 2 projects will be very beneficial.

Charles Street going?

My grandad and grandma had a boarding house there for years through the war and into the 60s. There knocking down my memories, where that number for the Sun?

If a Landlord wants to sell a house they have rented out, aren’t they supposed to give 3 months notice to the tenants ?

I would have thought that is sufficient time to find alternative accommodation ?

Perhaps the penthouse should be included in the east stand development. One way of getting O out.
The rest of the properties across to Central Drive will follow in due course as well. As others have said, this has been known about for years. I don't know the Blackpool property market and whether the valuations are reasonable for type, age and location of the properties.
I am just surprised why the council hasn't moved earler on this, when the funding for the Revoe development was agreed some time ago. Explains why the east stand planning application and development have not moved forward quicker

I’m under the impression at the end of this season. The work is due to begin on the new east stand and due to reopen for the 2025 season

I’m struggling to grasp the point of the article to be honest.

One bloke is desperate to sell up and go.. one resident seems ambivalent and the other only rents, but is worried about the effect of something that isn’t happening on her child with learning difficulties.

The council have clarified they won’t be kicked out before Christmas… Which anyone with half a brain would know anyway…

Anyone living on that street must have known for years the possibility of the homes going, never mind the actual plans being approved thereafter.

They should try a pub tenancy, every time you increase the sales your rent goes up, even though they are selling more beer and when the crunch comes at the end of term they triple your rent, thus making your business nonviable and forcing you out. You have four weeks! Yes it happened to me and I've survived.

Going off some of documents on the council website, if it is only the west side of the street being bought up there are still 5 or 6 still to be aquired

Just to put myself in the residents shoes if you live somewhere you really love I can understand how some are anxious about the plans.

They should be really looked after in this process by the club and by the council every step of the way with regular updates and liaison. They should also be financially compensated and assisted in finding another property they are happy with.

Sorry to go against the grain. We all want this development to happen but this is peoples lives that are being upheaved. It isn’t a case of just saying tough get on with it you have had plenty of notice.

Tbf, she doesn’t look the brightest.

Exactly this, I keep hearing there’s loads of boarded up properties in Blackpool, stuck em in there 🤔🤷‍♂️

Surely that has happened 🤔

The guy in the Dulux paint shop told me earlier in the year that they will not be moving & not received any notification to do so.

Obviously sensationalist (it's the Sun) but gives a bit of insight into the situation on Henry St.

The houses on Henry street would fall down if they didn’t CP them, the money they are all getting is far greater than the value of the houses. They should take the money and run

They rent, so they should be owed 0 quid to move. No different to any Landlord in the country giving notice to sell their property. That is literally how it works. You don't own the house and you have a contract with the landlord.

It’s the Sun - it isn’t a newspaper
