This is why they state clearly that real world data is harder to come by as there has only ever been one randomised clinical trial conducted in the world regarding masks and that was the Danish trial from last year where masks were compared alongside non mask use and found only a difference of 0.3% outcome between the two which is hardly definitive enough proof that the benefits outweigh the harms.

Fullfact? again? ffs.

The author of your full fact article.Lets take a look at him.

  • Abbas Panjwani
so from reading his linked in quickly he seems to be under 30 years old. No scientific experience mentioned. His main day to day jobs seem to have been researching for energy market suppliers. He has done one month at the independent as an intern and one month at the Sunday Times as an intern researching minor stories. He has worked for full fact for three years.

Am I supposed to take this guy seriously in comparison to two epidemiologists plus a controlled clinical trial?

Its another failed journalist with no evidence,no facts and no scientific credibility. This guy went to Oxford for three years and this is what he got for it.

Okay, since you quote Heneghan and Jefferson, lets have a look at their article written for the Spectator:

The bit at the end is interesting:

Due to the large number of people passing comment on the article on social media without reading it, we have updated the headline to emphasise that the study is about facemask wearers.

So the FF article isn't about the Danish study, or the Spectator article, but is instead about the deliberate misrepresentation of both by Covid denialists such as you.

I like how you word your reply to assume that Carl Heneghan and Tom Jefferson changed their own title of the article and also wrote that "interesting" statement at the end. Its been added on to the article and the title changed after publication by the spectator editorial team.

Reading the above it's clear that nobody knows how effective wearing masks are, but one question remains- does wearing a mask make it more likely you will catch/spread the virus?

The answer is obvious, so wear one when it's needed.

I'm sure you could say wandering around the streets naked with an illuminous flashing light on the end of your knob wouldn't make Covid any more likely, but I'd question whether that was a reasonable justification for doing so TBH.

The first few months the so called experts said there was no medical evidence to suggest wearing a masks would make much difference so what changed
Science goes with evidence, the evidence changed, t's not a mystery.

If you don't want to wear one, don't wear one and protect your personal liberty while being recorded on the store's many CCTV cameras and using your bank card linked to your personal data, which is in your pocket next to your smartphone that tracks every single movement you make.

Go freedom 👍

I wonder who the 1 person is that has said they’ve never worn one? 🤔
I've had foreign holidays so have had to play the game somewhat. Beer and tube of pringles cracked open once off the runway tarmac though. Fortunately nobody died on those occasions which came as a great relief. I couldn't live with myself if I caught the Covids.

I guess that's one way of putting it.
