Wham Documentary on Netflix

Took the future Mrs Wizz to see Wham at the opera house!!
Shit myself, surrounded by screaming girls sat in the balcony, was convinced it was going to collapse 😬

It’s incredible they got so huge so quickly, including in the USA, and yet were only together as Wham for 4 years.

I loved the documentary. It brought back memories. GM was a genius and a very kind/caring person. He did an incredible amount to help others via his generosity but he kept it quiet. That’s true and genuine kindness.

They were never my sort of Band at the time. I was into different sort of music altogether but since then I appreciate what they were all about.

The documentary is excellent

Anyone else watched it?
You've always put the boom boom into my heart Blood.

Club Peroni drinks are free.......!

Interesting (given recent events) that the Uber-Perv (George Michael) became such a cult hero for being a perv and crashing cars.

There’s hope for Huwbo yet 👍👍

Can’t think of anything worse than a documentary on Wham… What possessed you to watch that ?

They were nice lads Bifster. Many is the night me, the Wham boys and Ant and Dec have had a drink and laughed long into the night

I see there's another typical arsey comment from contrary mary. He criticises GM for being a "perv" yet on the BBC thread seems to have no problem with the same sort of issues. He really does think he's some thing special with what he believes is his superior intellect over us mere mortals of AVFTT.

Anyway back on topic, it was a great watch and everyone interviewed including George came across really well in what was a brilliant documentary of the rise of Wham! Especially Andrew Ridgley who previously had received planty of mocking for his role. He came across as a really nice guy.

I know that a well known poster off here had a brief liaison of sorts with GM when Wham! were at the peak of their career. Nothing untoward of course.

Watched it this afternoon, it was 40 years ago when I saw them @ the opera house!!😵‍💫
As said earlier, both came across as decent lads.
Shame it ended like it did

You said you wouldn’t tell on me mate?

Enjoyed it 👍 They had a lovely friendship and Andrew R comes across well, as having little or no ego as such, just wanting the best for his pal.

He absolutely died too young. Again the price of fame or a complex man.

Probably both.

RIP GM ❤️ Yog

I did hear on the radio this week that they are planning on doing a Wham hologram show next year, so presumably Andrew Ridgley

will be paid for his hologram to prance around the stage with his guitar unplugged. I have to give the guy credit he had over 40 years

of getting money for blagging that he is a musician, and now he will get paid even more from the comfort of his armchair at home.

Harsh Danny !!!

Harsh Danny !!

Maybe, but true. It wasn't a partnership of equals as in Steely Dan. He certainly didn't do what Vince Clarke did at the end of Yazoo

and go again with another singer when Wham finished, and while he was at the height of his fame. As for their records, it was

mainly session musicians playing guitar.

The documentary acknowleges a lot of this to some degree. The band was his idea though, and when the time came for GM to go it alone AR appeared nothing but supportive and took to a quieter life instead it seems.
