What has happened at Burton?

Hasselbaink took over in January and immediately signed 7 players permanently plus 5 loanees
Next, as TT suggests, it looks like he had as many games as possible postponed until the team had gelled enough.
Against us he succeeded twice because Mancienne (33 yo experienced defender) wasn't registered when they were due to play us for the 2nd time, hence the conspiracy theories about him kicking off at the ref about slippery grass!
He played the covid card to get the first game called off, even though his players had tested negative. I'm sure if this is the case, Burton aren't the only ones who've done it?

Now, tbf they seem to be playing well, but they're winning games now which arguably they should have already played.

Sounds like a very clever and resourceful manager and trying everything to gain an advantage, in a game where fans can turn on the coach when results don't go too well; we've seen that on here.

Dont get me wrong the guy was an absolute mercenary as a player but he's definitely a winner and doesn't care how he does it.

Let Burton worry about us we are a team in form too, and forget this bollox about the 2 games that were postponed it’s history and we can’t do anything about it so no excuses on Tuesday.

Worth his weight in gold for Ben Robinson really. Just odd that he let Nigel Clough and most of the squad go to save money and ruined their defence by making their best defender the manager who had to put together a squad on the cheap and then sacked him anyway and changed the full team! They could always score, just couldn't defend. Flipped the balance around now and basically done everything we've been trying for but in a couple of weeks.
Yeah from the stats quoted in this and other threads, it looks as if Mancienne is leading strong defensive performances and they're scoring on the break (not seen them, just guesswork on my part). But as someone has said already, we're on a decent run ourselves. If we are to be considered as serious play off contenders, we should just get the job done on Tuesday.

Conspiracy theories always sound better after the event . I think you maybe giving him more credit than he deserves about cancelled games . I think he deserves credit for the outstanding job he has done so far at a club who were relegation Certs before he arrived

Not sure I'm giving him any credit at all. I used the term "conspiracy theories" because there's no proof in support of those theories posted in recent threads. My own opinion is that he's tried to postpone as many games as he could until his team were in a stronger position, but I might be wrong? I would have to admit he's done a good job, but I think he has manipulated the covid situation to his advantage as well as his tantrums at the ref a couple of weeks ago. Anyway let's just win on Tuesday so the theories don't matter

Bought themselves as much time as they could so the new manager could have as much time with new signings.

If a Blackpool manager did that we'd love him, fair play to Hasslebank he's utilised some gamesmanship (managemanship?) to turn their season around. Hope we burst their bubble.

Half time this Tuesday and Blackpool have put together their best 45 minutes in the season yet and are 4-0 up only for Jimmy Floyd Callitoff to persuade the ref to abandon the match as it's a little breezier than expected.

Who is this Kane Hemmings? At 29 sounds like a journeyman who is suddenly hitting some form.

I’d never heard of him but sounds like he needs man to man marking.
Yesterday apparently Crewe made some defensive blunders so maybe the score line flattered Burton. But all credit to them for the turn around in form.
We have struggled for goals of late but by the same token we have not been conceding a lot either so on paper, a great game ahead, and like I said on a previous post I feel Tuesday is the pivotal point of our season.
Just a pity we all can’t be there.

Signed from Dundee but a Burton lad. 10 goals in 25 for Dundee last season and 21 in 37 in a previous spell. Ex Rangers and Barnsley.
