Go back further and you'll find the occasional top half finish, but for the most part teams get battered their first year in this league.

Today was trash, and if the team look like this for the rest of the season we can call it a disappointment. Right now though we are punching well above our weight. Much rather be us than either of the teams we came up with, or most teams that have come up in recent history.

In a way, the manner we’ve thrown points away at times, I’d rather have had a thrashing like Blackburn did and then a reaction. On second thoughts though..
Well I was going to lob £20 on us for Saturday, we haven't had two bad performances in a row all season, but we're actually odds on. That must be the Ince effect...

We have a couple of not great results and suddenly everyone's crap and we need more of this and more of that. Our big problem is that we are not taking our chances which means any error at the back is very impactful. Tonight was disappointing, we lacked energy, didn't really press their back line who to me looked like they had errors in them. Like critch said about us in the early part of the game against fulham, we just weren't us tonight.

"What a stupid OP making lame excuses for shit performances and looking at anything to appease such a diabolical job done by Critch tonight. Since he appointed his "mate" as assistant we've really taken a nose dive. Old stats about promoted sides are also there to be broken. Seems a lot of people are accepting of mediocre when there is no reason for us not have been aiming for the stars.

Too many still have this "little old Blackpool" inferiority complex that Karl and Owen gave you."

Maybe we tire late on in games because we have to work so bloody hard to compete with parachute payment and massively in debt clubs paying far higher wages and transfer fees?
Voy, I'm not having the parachute payments as an excuse.

It's a financial issue. We are in the bottom two budgets in the division. And miles behind a lot of the other clubs. Mostly free transfers on much lower wages. We are stretched to the max to compete.
I agree there's an element to it. But i wont have it as an excuse for the amount of late goals we concede. Are we not fit enough ? are we naïve ? not everything is down to money, if it was then Mitrovich would of scored a hattrick for Fulham and we would of lost.

During our Premiership season we gave away so many late goals.

Bolton, Blackburn and Spurs away we threw away winning positions with late goals.
Many other games we were drawing until the death.

It’s not hard to understand the frustration from last night. We lost to a poor side who played half the game with 10 men. And we’d got ourselves back in it and then conceded a second soft goal. All in all, a very poor day at the office.

Marv and Keogh played at Fulham.

What do second seasons look like as I’d always thought that was tough too

I can see Phil coming on and giving it the 'Blackpool fans with small minds' mentality because we all seem to be happy to just 'survive'

I said at the start I'd take a lower mid table finish.

Of course not all teams struggle in their 1st season at this level after promotion. Nob end were 90 mins from promotion to the Prem (guffaw) in 2001, after coming up from League One in 2000.

Team game Voy, its also a game of opinions and in mine we should of brought on Stewart to try and give us some control. Overall i thought we were really poor last night and missed a trick, especially after half time.
If Stewart wasnt just returning from a very long injury lay off he would have played. It's not painting by numbers.

You missed the bit about sacking Critch and getting Calderwood back as head coach.

We were poor last night end of, it was a strange team selection and, in my opinion, the wrong tactics to go five at the back, we are always far stronger in a 4-4-2 formation, no matter who is fit or not.
We have had a horendous time with injuries and if you look at the list of Keogh, Anderson, Husband, Carey, Garbutt and Marv (who may have been rested) most of those would have started if fit, that's almost half a team.

We are doing ok for a newly promoted side and I'd much rather be in our position than in Peterborough or Hull's shoes. But, we need to learn from our mistakes, something we don't seem to do. We need to start seeing out games, Critch needs to tinker less, stick with what works, play to our strengths and stop trying to negate what the opposition will do, let them worry about us.

It's also plain to see we will need to strengthen in the summer, a creative mid-fielder being a top priority, I think it's fair to say we have a few in the squad who are maybe not quite Championship standard.

We have had a slight free pass this season with other teams being very poor - Peterborough & Barnsley - & the points deductions to Reading & Derby.
It’s very likely that 4th bottom won’t need 40 points to survive !
Critch needs to use the rest of the season to consolidate the squad & prepare for a lot tougher slog next year…..

They weren't great in either game this season against us. We lost because of a ridiculous formation that god forbid we ever use again and had multiple starters injured/coming back from injury
hardly a ridiculous formation, 1st choice CBs out tried a 3 against 3rd in the league.

I think Critch set the team out for a nil-nil in the first half, giving Lavery the freedom to try and nick one if the opportunity arose, without any expectation that he would. Too many long passes to nobody, and when the ball got to its intended target their defenders did a good job of stifling Hamilton and Bowler, and then Grimshaw got cleverly suckered into an uncharacteristic mistake for their first goal.
It was just an unwieldly formation intended to rein in QPR that didn't work and as has been pointed out, if we'd stuck to 4-4-2 we would have stood a better chance of getting something out of the game instead of chasing it.
The game changed with the substitutions and we returned to a familiar shape, but we lacked penetration when the advantage was there to be exploited.
Bad day at the office and experimental formation sums it up, and we'll eventually muller some side, let's hope it's on Saturday.

we'll prob end around 55-60 points, and around 12-15th, which would be a very good return for first season back
