When are we going to sign a centre half with pace?

Donā€™t agree on this Mos. Itā€™s the lack of a player blocking those passes through the CBs that I think is the problem. We have no defensive minded midfielder on the pitch which is naive

Kev Stewart would have stopped many of those through balls. (In the 4 games heā€™s fit each year, so his deputy would at least do too. Except heā€™s injured too, so ok Kenny or Callum would have)

Without having a go at individual players, we've had a weak back four (for the Championship) since day 1 of the season and have done nothing to address it.
As this is a thread about the back four, I won't bore other posters by repeating their well documented criticisms of our midfield & strikers.
The table doesn't lie. We're currently performing like a bottom 3 team, & that's due to a number of factors including the board, manager & coaches.

Not disagreeing but surely the recruitment team can see we need some pace at the back????
I suspect a manager with a football brain could sort a team from our squad that was at the very least competitive,Appleton just seems full of himself and stubborn and thinks his way is best(which it quite clearly isnā€™t to everyone but himself)

Husband will have to play CB again.
Lyons at RB & move Connolly to CDM - in a midfield four with KD, MR, CP.
Yates & Bowler up top.

When are we gonna sign a centre half in the same mould as Danny Shitu ,or Andy Morrison thats what we need now ,someone who can head the ball away from our penalty area at set pieces ,thats our problem as i see it .

A replacement for Keogh has been a big error from the board. Rotherham have just signed 2 big CB, what a difference that made for them on Saturday one being Liam Morrison on a free from Cardiff. You have Michael Hector on a free all this season (Fulham) another big experienced CB 30yrs 6ā€™3ā€. Just donā€™t understand why money is not allocated to get a player this type on a free until the end of this season for us ?

With Marv's hamstring gone, I'd like to think we'll see someone arrive this week? As the o/p says hopefully with pace.

Liam Morrison.......is he Sean's brother??

Sean Morrison is a good signing for Rotherham. Tall and a leader. Used to be him and Aden Flint at the back for Cardiff. I remember when we played against them it looked like boys Vs men. Think Aden Flint is actually available now too.

Preferably today or appy will use the excuse not to play them saying they are not match fit or need to bed in etc first. We cannot delay especially with no Epi.

Just come back from a serious injury which is why Cardiff have let him go, there'd have been uproar if we'd signed him

Ryan Porteous a young, fast, strong, ball playing centre half, exactly what we need right now! All the stops should be applied to gazump tā€™rovers on this occasion!
Good luck with offering less than half of an expected salary to come and join a relegation battle instead!

Nice thought but look of the reality of the players we do end up with on permanent contracts and that's the guide to future business.

We've pissed about chasing things that would never come off in the last 2-3 windows and that's planted some of the seeds for where we are now.

Flint played against us for Stoke earlier this season at their place

I remember him being massive. 6 foot 6 he is. I'm sure he won't have any pace about him now but neither did Keogh. I'm sure his height and experience would help. Especially because we always look so vulnerable from set pieces. Our goalkeepers aren't tall enough so a giant of a centre half would help.
