When things were really bad...

I notice we were deducted 2 points for fielding an illegible player (our very own asterisk season) does anyone have an idea who it was ?

The only thing that matters now is the future. Are we in safe hands and will improve or are we going to stay mid table at best or deteriorate from here?

These games to the end of the season should, under competent Chairmanship, be a mini season where he is set a number of points to achieve and if he doesn’t deliver…the door is over there.

Of course all we will get is more building for the future platitudes and Sadler staying quiet.

Really! so who had it after Cartmel?
It was just a group of local business men. Ken Chadwick was chairman, Peter Lawson?, Ismail Gibrail? We were losing money hand over fist and there were serious plans to sell Bloomfield Rd and groundshare with PNE believe it or not!

Thanks and thought it was just my short term memory that had vanished never to be seen again 🥴🤛🤦‍♂️

I work with John Butler who'd mentioned that non registration to me. Obviously totally out of his hands but he wasn't impressed. Also added how much dosh Alan Ball wasted giving it the big I am.

I played in the same team as John, i was actually sub in that game

Regarding re-election. When you think back, growing up with it, it seemed to be at least one and usually several of the same teams in the frame year after year.

With respect to all of them: Crewe, Hartlepool, Halifax, Rochdale were never far away from the zone if they weren't in it. Habitual re-election appliers, and got back in every time. So if be we'd not been given the nod on our one go, you could only assume the FA hated us even then than now.

It was just the embarrassment of the whole situation, but I don't think we were ever in doubt for it.

Winner of the most irrelevant post of the year so far.

There is simply no connection whatsoever to the dark days of the stains.
Oh yes there is😂….and I was around then as I am now….just😳

Post edit just in case this is misinterpreted….we had two dreadful owners in the Cartmell and Oyston in my time supporting the club.Simon has been a breath of fresh air after those two.Someone who cares about not just the club but the town itself.

Didn't a woman who worked in the office steal stuff. When the police searched her house the letter with Butlers registration in it found under her bed ?

It was Chadwick. Ismail Gibrail was a minority shareholder who kept saying he was going to swing in and transform the place; smoke and mirrors stuff

Possibly related, although the season before. I was owed, for the early 80's, a reasonable amount and after a delay the cheque arrived. A few weeks/months later a duplicate cheque arrived, being too honest I never cashed it and it is still in the loft somewhere.

Paul Stewart played for England and in FA cup finals, I think he’d fancy his chances 😂
Yep, he'd deffo make the development squad under NC and Dobbie would have to whip him into shape 😂

My overriding point is that back then they were players who you could smell and feel the effort, even if the team wasn't great as a whole. That isn't a romantic memory, some of that re-elected squad were far better than...I don't need to go on.
