Which city in the UK?

It's Leicester and white people do not represent the lowest minority. It's the first time that a UK city does not have a majority white population.

Edit: wrong forum.

Yes, as I said, very narrow definition of 'identification'. Many British born and bred will label themselves as something else, including White Irish. Doesn't mean they really are.
Recently had to complete a form of this type.

As the son of two Irish born parents, when I am asked for my ethnicity I tick the “white Irish” box.
What else would I be ticking?

As someone born and bred in the UK, when I am asked for my nationality I tick the “British”box.

Two different things….

Who cares?

According to my DNA I'm a mix of English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, French, Portugese, Scandinavian, North African, Middle Eastern and a little soupcon of Mongolese ( apparently Genghis Khan really put it about)

Most of us are similar. It's just the inbred knuckle draggers who get uptight about this.

This will hardly matter when we are all strapped up as sex slaves for our robot masters in 50 years time…..

I’ve even caught my microwave oven having a little smirk at my expense - it knows what’s coming the dirty little Turing defeating overlord

To head off any classic Avftt, Farage, Daily Mail panics about “swamping” or the Great Replacement here’s the ONS summary of the 2021 census.

In brief 81.7% of usual residents identified as “white”. The next ethnic group was “Asian, Asian British or Asian Welsh” accounting for 9.3%.

So not that scary really.

Leicester

And for the very first time ever Christians in this country are now in a minority.

Worrying times ahead. 😟
I’m not a Christian. Neither is my wife, any of my three children, nor any other friends or relatives I can think of.

Attending church for a wedding or funeral doesn’t mean you’re a Christian.

So I don’t think you need to panic really.

I’am not the one having to make excuses up hence I’am not the one panicking just stating a fact that’s all.

What fact are you stating?

If it’s that Christians are in a minority then I think people are pointing out to you that has been the case for a very long time. Most people in the U.K. are not Christians. They aren’t engaged with religion at all.

If you’re equating white people with Christians and claiming that white people are in a minority the Office for National Statistics and the results of the 2021 census (see above) show that isn’t correct. By some margin.

Well let’s put it this way if we lived in Saudi Arabia and said Christianity was taking over the country would be in rebellion.

Would never happen though in Saudi but just saying like.
It’s not Islam replacing Christianity, it’s an increase in people putting ‘no religion’ over Christianity.

The thread is about racial demographics, not religion.

Yes. And here’s the evidence from the ONS.

Only 6.5% identifying as Muslim. Versus 46.2% identifying as Christian.

Which I think was probably the concern.

Classic bollix. Christians in the minority? You've either spun that to an agenda or you're lacking understanding, because that's not accurate in any way.
I take it you don’t read any papers or watch any news channels you idiot?
Which bit don’t you understand?

No one is trying to argue that fewer than 50% of the population identify as Christian. What they’re calling out is the ridiculous inference that it’s been overtaken by Islam.

As I’ve said 46.2% identify as Christian. Only 6.5% identify as Muslim.

It's probably good news as far as I am concerned. Certain people want to put a racial spin on this census data. The thing is that these modern day Powellites like Farage have already lost the battle they think that they are fighting. We already live in a multicultural society where interracial marriage isn't unusual, and it will continue and continue.

The 37% who have no faith in the census is also a really good thing IMO. It is a big step towards rational and critical thinking and a less judgemental society where decisions are based on science and not religion.

Farage stirring up hatred below and making 2+2 = 5.

So no one is trying to argue?

Yer ok.

Why don’t you go back and read your post 19. You were clearly inferring Islam was replacing Christianity. It obviously isn’t. 46.2% Christian versus 6.5% Muslim. That’s what everyone is challenging.

If you go to the other link I posted the figures for race (as opposed to religion) are 81.7% white versus 9.3% Asian.

Those are the facts. Taken from the 2021 census.

Simply not true.
I posted a statement about Christianity is now in a minority in this country and people said it was a load of bollocks when clearly it isn’t.
I’ve never once mentioned religion I never mentioned Muslims and I never mentioned Asians in anything I’ve said but clearly you and others are reading something that’s clearly not there and then accusing me of saying these things.

How bizarre is that? 🤷‍♂️

Well it’s a mystery why then you were talking about Saudi Arabia and speculating about what would happen there if Christianity was taking over.

Because that reads as if you were claiming that Islam was replacing Christianity in the U.K. which is clearly not the case.

Never claimed such a thing, once again you’re reading into it what you think is there when it’s clearly not.

“reads as if” your words not mine.

Well like I said - it’s a mystery why you posted that then.

But it’s good that you’ve seemingly accepted that anyone who claims Islam is replacing Christianity in the U.K. is talking complete bollocks 👍

The real debate should be why so many people in the U.K. have decided Christianity is not for them and that they have opted for “no religion”.

Yes I accept that never I’ve said any different. 👍

Can you explain the thought process behind this comment in relation to the subject you raised? Why use this example?

I've no idea, in this day and age you'd think everyone would believe in a magic fairy kingdom where only the pious are allowed, ruled over by a tyrannical omnipresent deity who takes the credit for everything good while blaming us for everything bad and damning us to eternal torture unless we do everything it says.

As a side point, for the non religious there is absolutely no need to go down the church route for funerals, weddings etc. My partner is a humanist celebrant. She does funerals that tell the story of people's lives and weddings that confirm in public people's commitments to each other. No hocus pocus. These kind of ceremonies are becoming more and more popular.
