So, of the current 92 League Clubs, which one of them have we not played for the longest amount of time (don't know the answer but was wondering it this morning - btw - doesn't include any of the newer league clubs who we have never played).

With us going through all four divisions and back again in a short space of time, I imagine the answer won’t be all that long ago since the last match.

Was there a team that came down from the Prem when we went up, and up again when we got relegated? If so, probably them.....

Edit: I am going to plump for a guess with Sheffield United

I checked this out for a ‘quiz’ question on here a few weeks back

league games only

Man City 3rd longest
Swansea 2nd longest
Preston longest

South Shore FC. Fortunately the local traditional rivalry that existed with Fleetwood Wanderers has survived for all those years, with the re emergence of another Cods team.

All joking apart I wonder how it sat with Darwen who historically seemed to be quite an emerging force, after several clubs had already become established.

For League games it is Preston followed by Swansea but of course we played PNE in 2013 in that infamous Capital One Cup game

Just to add I don't think we have ever played Forest Green, Harrogate or Salford in any games.
As regards to Barrow we played them in the FA Cup in 1925, in friendlies twice in the last year or so and of course in the ELF Trophy this season but never in the League

We played Salford in a pre season game at their place about 4 years ago. Paul Scholes was selling raffle tickets.

We played Preston under Ollie
0-0 at their place
Flare went off....
Well beck played for them

Excluding any teams we have never played in the League like Harrogate, and excluding Barrow who've just come back, and excluding teams no longer in the Football League like Stockport, Chester Halifax etc I think the answer is actually Preston, last time in the League was February 2010 0-0 at Deepdale. (I don't count that time they thought they'd won The World Cup by beating us is the Carling Cup) .

I was thinking Swansea, so I googled it and we played then at home March 2010 and beat them 5-1. I think after that game we went on a run and really started to believe things were happening.

Try the website 11v11.com and see if anyone can come up with another answer.

Sorry but who? Can't have played for any decent club that was a household name.
