Which is the best Market you have been to?

La Bocheria market off Las Ramblas in Barcelona is the best permanent market I have been to.

In terms of annual markets, the Christmas international one in Lincoln is usually excellent (at least it was before Brexit and Covid19!)

Leeds City Markets is the best I've done in this country. Overseas, in 2019 me and wife went to Bergerac. Their street market was wonderful. A guy was selling his own beer on tap and I wandered around the stalls imbibing a few plastic glasses of his fare. The fruit and cheeses on show were amazing.

Borough Market in London takes some beating, and I also like Bury Market for the Black Puddings and Winberry tarts.

Nishiki Market, Kyoto in Japan. Fresh sushi cut in front of you, Octopus Balls and Fried sparrow on a skewer amongst the many culinary delights.

The Manchester Christmas Markets are always enjoyable particularly the bars! On a another note ‘Albion Market’ was absolutely shocking!! 😂

P and G on Westcliffe Drive. You can buy knives, forks, mugs and even Jaffa cakes.

Spent hours debating whether or not they are a biscuit or a cake-Dave the barman at the Stute is thinking of having it in the Thursday night quiz as the food question.

Rawtenstall market as a kid. Seemed huge but actually isn't. Pea shooters cap/ spud guns, caterpults. It had it all

Biscuits go soft when stale, cakes go hard, so simply leave a Jaffa cake out for a few days and Bob's yer uncle.

Best two for presentation we’ve been to are Barcelona and Valencia...but I have also been to the wet, meat and veg market in Pulau Tikus in Penang ( many many more times than the other two😉)which is definitely good too and the difference is we bought the fresh produce there😉whereas the former two was more sightseeing except for buying the Saffron😀and the fresh fruit drink.

Nabeul market in Tunisia had a lot of err...... character!
Went in the mid 90's, and bought a leather jacket. Got about £30 (in Dinars) off by including a bottle of whiskey in the deal. But if it's the same now, better to go as part of an arranged trip with other people.
They offered me 3 camels for my woman, but there was no way they'd have been allowed on the plane.

They are officially a cake because they go hard when stale. That was the evidence that swung it for the producers in a VAT judgement many years ago.

Ah! I remember the VAT stuff now you mention it. I think Dundee cakes were hit the same thing too.

San Miguel Mercado in Madrid, great to go on a Friday early in the evening like we did and stroll around trying different tapas, wines and cocktails all very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is buzzing. A cracking start to the evening.
