Who on here has played at Bloomfield Road?

Given that youth cup finals and the Gledhill Final is (was?) played there we must have a few posters who have graced the turf?

I played twice for Lytham St Annes High school in the 90s. Once in a Lancashire cup final which we lost, despite a 40 yard cross/shot by my good self to open the scoring, and in the Harry Johnston final which we won.

I played on the hallowed turf back in the late 60's early 70's for a very successful Montgomery side that had Mickey and Stuart Betts and Royston Taylor in the team (all went on to become pro's). We won every cup final at Bloomers for many years. I was SO proud running out of the tunnel onto the pitch, then returning to the old changing rooms with the huge bath after the game thinking about all the famous players who'd done the very same thing. I remember the ball seldom went out of play on the left wing...something Tommy Hutchinson knew very well!!!!

Took 5 penalties against Peter Shilton at half time - Keith Dysons testimonial - (scored 2) - mid 70s.

Played for Foxhall v Birkdale in U 15 Cup Final mid 70s lost 4 - 1.

Played on there at half time for the Fleetwood Sea Cadet Band, Pool v Tottenham early 60s.

Played at the old Bloomfield in 1980 in a schools cup final.
I made sure i banged one in at kop end in the warm up because i knew i probably wouldnt do it in the game. Game was a blur and all i remember is the pitch seemed massive.

Played for YMCA in Hogan Cup Final 1984/85 vs North Fylde, scored an unfortunate og. Next i played in a Sunday League cup final for Wolstenholme Signs around 98, the keeper had a weak goal kick so i took them and proceded to catch my studs in the turf and rip my ankle ligaments !.

Never played a competitive match on there, but had a kick about in the old ground when there was an open day years and years ago. A few of us playing at the South goal. Felt amazing just doing that

No, nearly got there though. Lost in the semi finals playing for Stanah vs Carlton Green around 94. We lost 2-1, I was absolutely devastated as I can remember at the final whistle but I was given man of the match. Never got the chance after that. Only other two cup finals I played at Stanley Park ☹️ The other played at Morcombes ground

Played against Bolton boys under 15s, then in Tower Cup against YMCA UNDER 18s and other finals. Then spent
a season there running up to the Kop back down other end until we Paddy Sowden told us to stop !

Brilliant. Didn't realise he left. I wasn't good enough for my year's footy team. We had some cracking players. I was in the rugby league team though and Mr Duckworth was coach then. He set up a Blackpool team and I played in that for two seasons also. Was never so gifted at football tbh and I hated it haha

Sneaked in one night and had hanky panky with an ex girlfriend at the old kop end. Does that count as I popped her cherry (allegedly). Yeah playing for BJFF/ in the 70s - remember winning and being knackered after 10 minutes.

Played a few times. Warbreck in 83&84. Played goalie for blackpool u11,s we beat blackburn 3-1 whilst at revoe, remember jumping to touch the bar... no chance. Then in later life played alongside Richard sendall and Alan Wright in a few A team games, most games were at SG

tangemc - I bet you still can't touch the bar 😋
Were you still at The Grand when we played in the Gledhill in 99?

Bless you trying to touch the bar. Love the optimism tho

Should have played in a Hogan Cup Final in the 70's played in all the games up to final and was dropped in favour of the manager of the year above teams son , still irks me 40 odd years later . Anyone ever come across Ike Newell used to run Marton Congs teams

Played for the Blackpool Chorley and leyland supporters club . Played against a very good wolves team which was run by the guy that run foxys in penkaridge . Scored two with big Sam in the crowd. 🤒

I played for Collegiate School once. Had a quality perm and spent most of the game staring at my shadow.

Yep, when I worked at Reebok a fair few years ago we hired the ground for the evening. Head office staff v external sales.
Sales won 3-1. Remember one of the Irish reps scoring a worldie in the old Kop end.
I was in an element.

Played there in 81 in the Harry Johnson cup. I gave Steve Thompson 2 yard, he turned me and scored the winner. Got presented the loser medal by Harry, lots of other players from the 50s team at the dinner

Played against Blackpool FC U18 for Lancaster City U18 at Blackpool Rangers in a cup game. Lost 5 0 and got into hot water with our manager for being gobby.

I may have played against you? I saved two penalty’s against Montgomery, (at Montgomery) back in the late 60’s, early 70’s, playing for Hodgsons of Poulton. Montgomery eventually won the game, (3-2, I think?) after being given yet another penalty and scoring another. (No idea where the ref was from?) I was being touted by my schoolmaster to play in goal for Blackpool schoolboys at the time, despite desperately wanting to play outfield. I played ONE match in goal for Poulton before moving South. I later went on to play Senior League football in Hampshire, (outfield) as a striker - thankfully! Eddie McCreadie, the ex Chelsea manager, wrote to me in 1977, offering to have me watched, but unexpectedly resigned within that week, re: some issue about not being given a ‘company’ car. Ah well. 😕 Very good team Montgomery, back in those days. 👍🏼

Nope lost in two semi finals and got dropped for one final and never got on 😭😭😭never forgiven the bastard sorry mean the manager for doing that

Yep. On that Football Aid thing a few years back.
Had to play 45 mins as a bloody right back. Never played right back before and don’t intend to do again.
Still tried to score from the half way line though. 😂

I played there twice for Warbrick in the early 70’s , winning one and losing one.

Should have played fir RAOB Rangers (FC Rangers) also about 74/75 against BJFF but had a serious knee injury and missed the game.

Made up for it in 1976 as one of the RAOB Rangers team the won the Lancashire Under 16 Cup at Burscough.

We were a very good team with some exceptionally players. Some had trials with Blackpool, Bolton and Wolves but nobody made it to professional status.

Never played on the hallowed turf, but I led out St Annes YMCA in late 60`s in the Houston Cup Final.
This was a West Lancs League Cup named after my father James(Jimmy) Houston who did a lot of work with the League.
He had been a Football League Referee and had reached the top.
He got a lot out of football(not financially)and believed in giving it back.
Also mentored a couple of local referees Ken Parr and Jim Collins whom some of you older guys may have known.
