Who starts next saturday and system

That can't be right CJ is left sided and Connolly right. You mean the other way round I think and neith of them are wing backs.
Nope. CJ was on the right with Connolly on the left. It was a bit odd to see. I guess Critchley wanted them to cut inside and play in a similar way to inverted wingers.

I never could second guess Critchley's team selections last time round. I've never been a fan of 5 at the back wingbacks or not. The key for me is players having an understanding that if someone has gone on the attack & is out of position having lost possession then someone else covers for them. This of course only happens with a well balanced squad who have played together for a while. So for me as we're probably not ready for that yet I wouldn't be surprised if we go for a more conventional set up on Saturday like 4-4-2

He actually played at RWB against Hibernian with Connolly at LWB. I hope Lyons replaces one of them.
Hopefully Lyons replaces Connolly. If we want to improve the team and do well this season Connolly and Husband should be on the bench more often than not.

If that's the case then Lyons definitely has to start over Connolly!

Christ with some of the new players CJ should be on the bench at best.
We need majorly committed players to get us off to a good start - winning ugly will do me for the first 5 games.
Next thing he'll be touted as a potential centre-back.

Don't think it'll be Lavery and Beesley because that's all the eggs in one basket.
Think we need to play three up top myself and give us as many chances of scoring as possible.

As much as CJ sometimes worries us, the opposition are more worried about him, because he possess that magic ingredient. Pace.

Yes, point taken. But is there not then the added component of making telling, constructive use of that all-important, key element - or 'magic ingredient', as you put it? Something CJ seems manifestly incapable of doing! It's almost as though he possesses pace for pace's sake. I mean, he might leave defenders trailing in his wake - but what then? He doesn't seem able to make a telling cross and, at best, he only scores once in a blue moon, and, and, and ... Well, precisely - and what!?
This might seem a little unfair but, to me, it almost seems as though he commands his place on the strenght of that 'worldie' he scored in the pre-season friendly at Anfield against Liverpool's second-eleven at the start of Critchley's first tenure in charge way back when. Cos otherwise, I really don't see what he 'brings to the party'.

I do agree tarantula with most of what you say but players are frightened of him.
When he got the ball from jerry for the fourth goal against pne I was shouting for him to run time out at the corner flag and he scored a brilliant worldie.
I found bowler just as frustrating as he had more talent than CJ.
Happy hunting today.

FFS Wrenching my brain for a 5-3-2 formation and he's only gone and gone 4-2-3-1 my fav. What else could he do with no wing backs. Lyons on the bench tells me he's off soon.

Lyons will maybe have his agent touting him around if Critch doesnt value him.
