Who the hell is Tommy Sermanni

Whilst enjoying a pre-match drink yesterday I was approached by a Pompey fan who explained he was a collector of football memorabilia. He had recently bought a lot at auction which contained many varied programmes. When he now travels away with Portsmouth he takes any relevant programmes to try and get them in the hands of like minded collectors. The upshot is he handed me a programme from 1979 of Blackpool v Southend Utd. It is in pristine condition and I would like to make sure it gets into the hands of a collector of BFC programmes. If you are interested and a genuine collector please comment on here and we can then try and get it into appropriate hands. By the way Blackpool’s No. 8 that day was Tommy Sermanni who I confess I’ve never heard of, it transpires he eventually became well respected in the Ladies game.

yep, think most older fans will have heard of him but as for knowing anything about him, can't remember anything.

Think there was a bit of a link up with Torquay Utd in the late 70's with Tommy Sermanni,Brian Wilson & Jimmy Weston.

Yes, I remember him coming down from Scotland. A typical diminutive Scottish ball player but I think he struggled with the physicality of English football.
